Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

When will the rest of East Syracuse/Oriskany employees be let go?

Any word on the next/final round of lay offs for East Syracuse and Oriskany employees? I thought it was Q1 this year and while I know they laid off a bunch in February there are still some of us left. When will we get laid off?

@wx just say you don’t have anyone close to you, let alone close to you with migraine issues or worse

June 1 is the next notification date. I heard Operations will be down to 0% WFH by year end. The rest of the firm is targeting 10%, to my understanding. Best of luck to you all.

They keep getting extensions because they still need the people but they still fully intend to let them all go when they figure out how to operate without them

I think it’s fantastic if they lay off all the lazy WFH clowns. In my experience, not 1 ever seems to have a real legitimate excuse to WFH. Perhaps it’s a little more
convenient, but that’s it. And these people always work weird shifts, are gone from their desks for hours and hours every day, but somehow can always magically make it in if there’s a free lunch.

So yeah. If you WFH and get laid off, no one worth a damn feels bad for you.

@kd If you were rated as below expectations or did not meet twice in a row, you are not eligible for rehire, no matter what. If you are eligible for rehire, that should be a last resort since BNY is so toxic.

@qq thats because all the sr. mo--ns think its smarter to pay for more expensive locations than oriskany and Syracuse where they didnt pay sh-t at all compared to NYC and PA. Look how well they're doing for all of us. Oh wait, robins interviews say hes doing amazing and has great ideas

@qq, NO he did NOT. Just because you keep repeating it doesn't make it true. He visited Oriskany and was very impressed and was actually talking about adding a whole wing onto the East Syracuse building.

Recall that CHARLIE GAVE ORISKANY A FIVE YEAR SEVERANCE TO DISPLACED

@jh they aren’t rehiring anyone. That’s a fact. So it is termination whether you want to accept it or not

@hr No I am not but I am being laid off. If laid off, you are able to be rehired. Not sure why anybody would want to but you can. Falsifying is probably so they don’t look like a**holes since they gave a reason rather than saying “because we can”.

@fs then maybe they shouldn’t have forced people to work from home inly to turn around and terminate them because they couldn’t go in a building. A building owned by them that still sits closed and empty 2.5 years later

@fs you are being fired! Doesnt matter if they call it laid off. You are not being brought back ever. And we are very aware NYS is at will. Then please explain why they are falsifying performance ratings to terminate if they dont need a reason

@ej I don’t agree with what they are doing by any means but they are not firing WFH. They are laying us off with a severance package as a “relocation strategy.” RV and his minions have stated in several meeting that WFH is not part of the operating model which makes it all legit. Also New York is an at will State so employers do not need a reason to fire employees.

It will be in June so they can all pat themselves in July quarterly meetings. This one is BIG.

@eh its still worth trying because this sh-t cant be legal. How can you fire people you forced home permanently and also falsify performance ratings that got people fired as well and others reduced and they had merit taken. Something needs to be done about this place and whats happening

@ef I don't believe any state or federal agency cares about BNY. These layoffs began in 2023, if an agency cared, we would have heard by now.

I support the submission of claims and wrong-doings to state and federal agencies, but as someone that filed warnings with my state Department of Labor and Industry office over a year ago... I do not believe any agency cares.

The layoffs for wfh arent just specific to this location. They are getting rid of all wfh by eoy next year. Gotta get their AI and automation in place first. Along with your replacements

As part of this group, we arent going anywhere until 3rd qrtr 2027. Atleast my group. Unless bny gets blasted for this dirty bullsh-t. I turned them in to NyS EEOC and i suggest everyone who is wfh do it as well. Our building sits empty for 2.5 years owned by them and we were forced home but now deal with repercussions for not going in because of these mo--ns. Yeah not staying quiet
