Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

My new job at State Farm! WOW!

Just started with State Farm and think I made the worst mistake of my life. We went up to the floor and did some side by side observations with the claim reps and holy sh-t this place is a zoo. The guy I was sitting by smelled like weed and looks like he had not showered in a week. The look on everyone's face was one of desperation and misery. Even my training class is a complete cast of burnouts, rejects, imbeciles and people I would move to the other side of the street to avoid. I guess everyone is also getting their ratings this years and sounds like a total sh-t show. This is not what I was told in the interview, typical companies, all smoke and mirrors. Joke!

@2q8. This has been the way at State Farm since 1995. This is what happens in an all about me environment. Do not trust any of them. They play people just to sit back and laugh at them. I was lucky. I was able to play their game in their own ballpark and beat them at it by working two jobs at the same time and retire at 57 to grab 2 pensions. The better than thou condescending and arrogant attitude needs an azz kicking at SF.

@2q8 It is sad the two TMs harassed you like that. There are alot of unqualified people here, but you should not have been judged like that openly. Sadly, nothing will happen to these TMs even if you had reported it.HR and Compliance is here to cover up and gaslight.

I was on an elevator with two TMs during training and had my training badge on. The one TM shook her head, and the other TM said "Yeah, they are hiring people off the streets." I could not believe two TMs would be soooo disrepectful, I happen to have masters degree, 22 years in healthcare, primarily with spinal chord injury patients, and 5 years experience in p and c. I absolutely could not believe I was being disrepected like that right in front of my face. My last day is Friday. This company has a sick culture. Absolute sc-m, hostile work environment at a time most CS had 400 plus inventories. I never reported this, but have an attorney now. To the two two TMS, good luck to you!!

State Farm thinks the future of company will be determined by a cast of check the box characters, and anyone else that thinks or feels marginalized in our society. A collection of DEI outcasts, emotionally unstable, mentally compromised and ethically questionable people! It does not take a genius to look around and see every training class, group of new hires, majority of promotions and leadership is someone other than a WASP. There genuinely is no long term future for this company.

@ej because claims is full of unqualified DEI hires

It's not the company, claims jobs are the pits at every company. Try getting into tech where everyone is much happier.

Claims is an absolute nightmare, if your not very smart, poor communicating, and dont learn. For normal people, its just a lot of work during the day, which does make time fly. My days in claims were over in no time.

Associate level is bad because turnover is so high no one cares about anything. Get promoted and it improves.

Not the best career but after 5-10 years you can make six figures relatively easy if you have a normal level of intelligence.

@1vg well said. The company wasn't always that way. It's poor leadership!

I feel so sorry for my fellow claims peers here. It's as if they feel they have no other options than THIS job, and no other skills besides do tasks, rinse, repeat. I came here from a different background, and sorry I did. I miss the joy of loving my job. There is no way I will ever love this job. I cannot believe people do this job for 30 years? I feel like an alien here. Everyone around me is so physically and some, mentally unhealthy. People have a tendency to just hassle each other and complicate things. It is so weird. I did my bid here, I tried it out, did a great job, did it well, and I am getting back to loving my life and job after bonus paid. Look in the mirror, folks, do what gives you purpose and happiness, as life is too short. You dont need to become an angry long timer whose 40 and looks 70. Look around.

all the big companies are like this
from micron to chevron
there is one common link, the majority shareholders
they install the ceo puppet and he implements what they want

Nope, remember it's the business model no matter what they say. They want a disposable work force. Most decent people will not work at SF. They are looking for lemmings, and any other group that will not push back on their agenda. If you hire a competent workforce, that can think for itself, questions their constant BS/lies or has a high level of integrity, they can't do what they have been doing. Their used to be enough leaders around that were really good decent people that would stop the madness because they actually had to look these people in the eye and see them daily. Pure trash runs this company! They tenured folks are just hanging on for their pension or they would have bolted a long time ago!

SF recruiters- stop hiring unmotivated, unqualified, emotionally immature id--ts with no work ethic. Me and my sh** show reassigned claims from id--ts you hire who are no longer with company will thank you!!!!! Also, the training mgrs need to be catching losers in training. You know, the ones who take an hour to go get coffee when training class starts????

Gotta love this reimagined 2040 workforce! Like a really bad Disney movie remake or 50% off sale on Carnival Cruise! Never been a more true statement than "there goes the like a good neighbor hood! "

What also amazes me is how many people that work at State Farm and hate this place more than I do and they still have SF insurance. Home, Autos, and Life and it's laughable because they are paying for their own misery. Cancel your policies, its the one thing that can derail their plans!!! Sc--w these executives and agents. Stop funding the machine!

Sad to see SF become such a racist company as it has excluded 72% of the population in its hiring practices and getting worse everyday. Once your hiring is not merit based your days of staying in business are numbered!

I worked well over 30 years for State Farm. They are no longer the State Farm they once were. The best way to judge any company is ask all retired employees at all levels if they would consider working there again today. If you find that over 70% say NO, the company has lost its way especially in a service business. 70% believe me is a low number for State Farm today. The company has only downgraded its benefits, but it has downgraded its reputation. Sad so very sad. I miss how great it once was.

I got laid off from Geico last year and came over to State Farm. Geico is horrible and this is the same total sh-t show. It's just the industry and corporations these days. I'm trying to find a way out...leave now before your mental and physical health takes a dump. It's not worth it especially for what they pay.

See what happens when they own you? They ruin you physically, financially, and morally to the point you hate everyone who in anyway is associated with them.

Hang in there. Next year they are reinstating the pension. It will make even the worst job worth it. And you will still keep the higher 401k match. Those under the old pension plan won’t get that benefit.
