@eg Yep. They are required to interview a certain number of candidates as well. It changes nothing. I have been the token interview on several occasions. Now I know not to apply for spots unless I have talked to or been invited to apply by the hiring manager. The rest of the process is performative paperwork.

I've heard that Austin jobs are being relocated. That makes sense. the labs office reduced to a small DC a while back. My org outsourced almost all of our technology team over the years. I honestly can't believe we've made it this long but at this point, it isn't worth getting worked up about it.

I wish I could tell you it’s legit but all those jobs are already filled. They legally have to post it for 7 days but 99% of the time the person has already been selected

It’s a joke

Jobs are either already filled when posting the vacancy or the intent is to hire from outside the company; either H1B or recent grad. (They are required to act like they looked internally before going outside the company.) Its all a game. There are no vacancies.

Another possibility, if you have an approved unfilled vacancy and your group gets hit with a layoff, closing that vacancy counts as a body laid off. My old boss always kept a couple approved vacancies in the wings to cover layoffs.

I can’t imagine why they aren’t calling you back?

The whole job posting process is a SCAM. Plain and simple fraud.

Most internal roles, they already have someone in mind for the role or they are seeking external support n some cases. The key is to know the hiring manager or reach out to them before you apply. Of course that’s assuming your boss won’t block you to begin with, which sadly is very common here.

This is being done at numerous companies. Seems like “open” posting are being used to create a job bank just in case. Know of 4-5 people who actually got a call back, went through numerous interviews and was told the job was supposedly filled internally. That is assuming there was actually a job available.
