Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How many in the next round of T layoffs? 1K, 5K, 20K?

So today's ATS town hall hinted at impending layoffs, it was almost glib to go down the list of other recent corporate cutbacks but saying T is not named... But anyone with half a brain knows that some significant layoff is being prepared in Dallas, corpos like T love nothing more than to follow the others while the getting is good.. So my question what's your bet for the next round?

So many of us WILL BE laughing our fckn @$$es off when we get the two years pay to leave PLUS our pensions AND 401K money. We'll ESPECIALLY be laughing at YOU, you pofs!

@mq , spot on. These mugs are delusional pipe dreamers. Nobody will actually get two years pay to leave…regardless of what’s ’on paper’. Not gonna happen.

@ee you will never get it and you cannot speak it into existence. These are simple facts. Now please stop day dreaming and get back to work, you fool.

@eb: Leg T union workers always get termination pay if laid off and our termination package is much better than yours. Sorry but fact.

We'll all eventually and inevitably be laid off however it's simply much better to be union rather than management when that happens.

VTP is most likely coming soon for Leg T CWA workers who'll enjoy up to 104 weeks pay to leave. Continued benefits are part of the deal as well as education/training plus more. It sure is good to be union rather than management.

“We will find out 4/20.”

That’s when the offer came to D9 last year. Are they planning to repeat it? They’ll have to add to it some if they want more folks to take it this time.

The only reason T isn’t in the list of layoffs Legg mentioned is b/c they’ve gotten enough attrition from RTO, busting people for not RTOing,/HUBing and people “retiring” b/c they can’t take the bs anymore. All part of their master plan to avoid the negative press (this time).

Yes, laid off for AI adoption ability is not a comment that makes a lawsuit happen.
EXCEPT Stinky himself said this in the Summer of 2023 meeting to everyone on the surplus call (for November and those being forced out by the mandates must move to Dallas/Atlanta).

When asked “Why are you doing this to us?” asked passionately and with obvious anger in the man’s tone.
Stankey said after a long hesitation
Our customers are younger, our workforce is not (long pause) we need the two to align. As soon as the call ended people who heard that comment ran to those of “AI adoption resistant employees” saying to us “Did he really just say that? They can’t do that you are all a protected class!”
Stinky didn’t care; he knows AT&T’s legal team would tie lawsuits up in court until we are dead.

What with all this “next round” talk?

Layoffs literally haven’t stopped.

20-30k, C-Suite needs to make their money before the stock craters.

If you’ve been paying attention to amount of effort and money Stankey Legg have put towards having metrics on everything McKinsey can think of, you know it’s coming.

We didn’t lay you off because you’re 60, we laid you off because your “AI adoption rate” didn’t meet “market based standards”
