Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The good years are gone

I've been here twenty two years and I can tell you the best days are behind us. What this place used to be and what it is now aren't the same thing.

@eb hey old! Time to retire.

Hey newbie time to polish up your resume or perhaps get some kind of degree that will help you long term like a plumber's license. Have you not heard AI is coming for your job and if that does not take it the ongoing outsourcing off shore certainly will in about ten years. Good Luck!

@en then tell me why Stankey is still there? He did not even had a great idea and should had been kicked out a long time ago. =D

Experienced employees should be retained not for a single past idea, but because their judgment, adaptability and skills let them find the right solutions regardless of age or era. Clearly Stankey is not one. He probably retreats to the business textbooks he bragged about reading at night—books that didn’t prepare him for reality or instill any ethics.

Big tech companies don’t stake their claims on people who had great ideas in 2006. Those people are moved out quickly to bring in new experts. I think all people with 10-15+ years in this company need to realize that the company doesn’t really care about your 20-year-old opinions anymore because they’re not relevant for where this company is trying to go and you’re just dragging us all down.

@ea , well I don’t know about “granpa” (whoever that is) but you’ve (very) likely never accomplished anything of substance in your pathetic life kid.
