Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Remote managers

Heard a rumor that remote managers need to move to a hub. Any truth to that?

@ea if I had to guess it’s because the impact to the team would be far greater by laying off the leader first. I am willing to bet though there’s more to that story and strategy that’s coming.

There are some remote leaders who lost huge swaths of their teams simply due to location, and yet they still kept their jobs. One is rumored to be a grade 19. Fair is fair. When can this be expected?

This won’t be a shotg-n move, but over time the goal is that leaders, and quite honestly all unapproved remote roles will work out of a hub. If you listen to the last Townhall, she clearly states it will take time to bring that 40,000 remote employee status down. And she specifically has called out leaders, several times. But you can’t do that all in one swing. You do it phases. Layoff, rehire, next batch. Rinse and repeat for the foreseeable future. They are starting with roles and grades that are most critical to be in a hub, and with minimal impact to business.

Come in where? There are no assigned spaces and no offices that are convenient to commute to for 80% of us.

This is not a rumor and true. My direct manager was told come in or be severance out. All people leaders need to return to a hub.

Direction in our area is all people leaders must be in a hub location and layoffs have aligned with this movement.

That one has been around for a while - so far, it hasn't been proven out as real, and I think it would be difficult to implement without a lot of negative consequences.

The one I could see is certain grades - last version I heard was 18+, which equals those with SVP title or higher - would need to be in office. That also doesn't mean they have to be in a hub, but at least need an office they can go to.

Sorry I can’t provide any direct truth but here to say I’ve also heard that there is a directive that leaders should be in a hub. So it sounds like a strategy they are working towards.
