@e9 The real issue is people thinking SS will still be available in 7 years.

"Thanks to Union seniority rules, the 35 year employees will stay and the 20 year people(like me) will get the axe---I never thought that having 20 years with a company would put me on the bottom of the list."

I got clipped 10 years ago with 20 years. Took a JOG, still on payroll.

Thanks the union we got a terrible deal last time. Unions officers being la.y and just renew the contract so they can just sit there and get paid.

We keep letting go the workers and keep hiring the paper pushers that destroy productivity.

Regarding the union seniority comment, in the Leg T contract, before anyone is laid off, the company must declare a specific surplus and first offer VTP (Voluntary Termination) which then goes by seniority. Most high seniority workers would take it in a heartbeat. Those with over 31 years get 104 weeks pay. This is a good deal for all as it inevitably prevents lower seniority workers from being Involuntarily laid off.

So a 55 year old with 35 years service who is still years away from SS eligibility should get the axe 1st so junior employees can stay on?

Yes loads of stanky $chitt in the plumbing at the work location and there will be stankier $chitt continuing to flow on September 16th. It just keeps going on and on and on... and it keeps getting deeper.
