@2xe can’t upvote this comment enough. So d-mb to offer different PTO based on state. That’s NOT what competition does and trying to gaslight us into suggesting it’s true has sadly become the norm.

@2tt that’s so wild to me. Other national companies offer the same benefits no matter where the employees are located.

I guess we only want to be national when it suits us.

@k5 yeah but don’t forget your (PTO and wellness days) benefits change depending on where- & you can’t move to a state with better benefits

@js The policy has changed to remove the 250 mile radius, but only for salaried employees. Telecommuters can now live anywhere in the country except for California, New York, Hawaii and Alaska (?).

@hv For your dept or is this an adjustment to the radius requirement policy? Anyone know?

@OP This is accurate. The consolidation should have been years ago vs continue to pay lease with unused spaces. We are finally thinking efficiently. Not everyone will get their wish of wfh but give it time.

@bk - Your lack of knowledge on this subject is clear. FSUs receive FAR FEWER benefits than employees located at HQ locations!

@a7 Did I miss an announcement that they’ve removed the 250 mile thing for telecommuters?

My leadership confirmed today Naperville is not closing. Anyone being sent home there is due to their role becoming remote, not the office closing.

@bz - "Naperville has been rumored/quasi confirmed to be on the chopping block for a while now. They have been slowly moving people to the DG office since at least mid/late last year"

  • That could very well be, they moved a lot people to DG last year and consolidated some floors in Naperville. With the move for folks to remote in Naperville and some at DG - they could shift remaining in-office Naperville folks to the DG office. In fact last year HCSC added 2 more partial floors at DG - which is a really nice office building and setup compared to the Naperville office. It may not make sense to keep the Naperville office.

@bt that would definitely make sense then. I had not realized that had changed.

@bd they no longer pay the less than $10 for rent that agreement stopped around year 20 or 25 hence the closing

If this were true and it was all about closings then why are people in Tulsa going home? I have a feeling again that it’s giving the lower grade employees benefits and makes the mid professionals who have jobs that don’t see the public stay in the office. It’s always the ones at the FSU’s that benefit. This has been HCSC’s actions before when they gave $200 monthly stipends to the lower grade employees when gas prices were ridiculously high. There are tons of empty cubes in the Tulsa headquarters that they could have moved the FSU to it and spread the WFH position more fairly.

The Abilene office closing is surprising. They pay less than $10 a year to the city for that building as an agreement to help keep jobs there.

Half of the Naperville office. So far the call center is confirmed to be going home which equates to an entire corner of a floor in Naperville. They just did an entire remodel too.

@a4 Agreed on the 250 mile thing. It never made sense to force full time telecommuters to live “near” an office. Nobody is driving 250 miles for a holiday potluck. It’s hard to believe some common sense and good news coming from HR, we are all waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I see NORC is leasing 2 full floors of the Randolph building. Maybe that's part of it.

Regional operations offices are good for community relations so I doubt they will fully close.

Also looking forward to unrestricted geographic distance - work from anywhere (usa).

Welcome to 2026. These crumbling cube farms should have gone years ago.
