Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Keeping “scrum masters” and “release train engineers” (lmao)

Keeping useless joke fluff roles like those while getting rid of the technical folks who do the real work, tells you all you need to know about how big of a clown show this company is now 🤡🇮🇳

@dy please, don't insult college interns by comparing what they do to this tripe. Thankfully they have been shielded from this sh-t so far. Interns always deliver incredible value in less than 3 months.

Useless garbage roles while the company sends all real technical work overseas to slave labor third world shtholes. Good! Makes total sense (: Karma is a bi--h though; just wait! 😈

I don’t know everyone else’s experience, but mine is that the RTE is not a pure RTE role at Chevron. The key to knowing your role is undervalued is when they toss a ton more on your plate. If that’s the case then you may want to argue for a title change that way you don’t get shown the door based on your official role title.

The quality of Scrum Master these days is sorely lacking. I knew quite a few good ones back before 2023, but now most are not fit for the role. Mine is the exception, she’s good, and keeps me on my toes when I start to kick the can to another iteration.

The good ones, (less than 10%) have the technical knowledge, drive, and organization to help the team deliver results. Sadly they realize this and leave for greener pastures. The remaining 90% get lost in ADO.

That works great in Tech and IT…
In oil and gas industry it’s difficult due to the ever changing realities, priorities, pet projects, lack of resources, market volatility…

On projects ok on operations…the Scrum master should communicate pivots and changes…scrum master an Indian or a British accent….

SM and RTE are overpaid roles that run meetings and take action items that a college intern could do

Whether you like it or not, they are protecting the HiPots and friends of management. Who do you think was put into those useless jobs? Before they went to the new useless performance review, it was easier to spot who was in the club and who wasn't. If you weren't getting a new job every 18 to 24 months and have somehow survived the latest purge, you need to start looking for another job. When they changed the performance review, I started looking than. I'm out of this mess.
