Company stress at dangerous levels

Workload is insane and it feels like we’re barely keeping our heads above water. Everyone’s walking on eggshells, worried about getting cut. People talk about leaving, but years in and severance keeps them trapped. Morale is rock bottom and it’s exhausting. It’s hard watching a place that used to feel meaningful turn so cold and ruthless.

I have a co-worker that committed su----e and other died of lung cancer, as the company dynamics didn't allowed him to take care of himself and take time off. Other had a stroke, new leaders are micromanagers. Another former co-Worker was termed when he came back from knee surgery. I can keep going on, but no one listen to the small people all this company cares is money in their pockets without caring about any of us. I hope the goverment changes this when Healthcare money go to the people, instead of the company.

The company wide Azure outage guaranteed that. Theres no way that uptime metric is even close to achieved

@de I bet they aren't going to meet metrics for peak season uptime of 99.999, probably a ridiculous amount of P1/P2 warrooms due to layoffs and letting go of top talent. Enjoy Optum

@c7 First there are no 350000 employees, at least not here in the USA. It’s just like when leadership says, “ we enrolled a million Medicare members, not true. He talking about the same members that were allready in the plan. The employee team that oversees the employees in the states generally had little to no work, hence there must be minimal employees. So as to employee surveys, that’s a joke. Many participate only because they think if they don’t something bad will occur, or they think someone can tell that they didn’t and so it will look unfavorable on their evals, plus how many actually tell the truth. Not many because they think leadership or their managers can tell and retaliate. So those surveys are worthless. I tell you what is worth it, the thousands of bad reviews online from both consumers and employees. So hence the company has no real transparency or integrity.

@cr Basically you are an example of the poor work environment and one of the many reasons the company is tanking. I can only imagine the customer service skills you must have. Don’t worry about whether the post is about layoffs or not. This climate will lead to more layoffs because all these situations described lead to loss of clients and revenue hence a layoff.

@c7 Sorry to dim your rose colored glasses, but the post has a point that is relevant here:
Work stress comes from
• Heavy workload
• Unclear expectations
• Lack of control
• Difficult workplace relationships
• Poor work–life balance
• Job insecurity
• Inadequate resources or support

Here are some of the drivers of those stresses:

  • Stock price has halved and is heading down
  • Billions in Federal lawsuit pending due to accusations of fraud and cheating by company
  • Healthcare industry under attack by president
  • Tech required to learn and apply AI with little training or to expect low rating
  • AI threat to employment is growing quickly for many
  • Mandatory RTO for many
  • Cafeteria prices here have doubled
  • The number of FTE to be receiving 2’s has doubled for next cycle
  • No raises, minimal bonus for most
  • Promotions significantly reduced
  • No US FTE hiring
  • No new Reqs in many areas
  • CEO wears a suit every day since he was 8 in boarding school and expects others to do the same
  • a year or so ago the we’re 440,000 employees….

@c7 not yet for you - just wait until your group gets cut then you’ll be right back on this forum feeling like the rest of us.

What a talent you have. You can speak for 350,000 employees. Unfortunately this is not what our group experiences. Not all parts of the Org are like yours and certainly not what the Surveys say. Stop your gaslighting.

@a1 they target people paid higher in their salary grade too, despite years of good performance and years in

I work as a nurse, our team just joined the national team. Half of pediatrics were cut, half of IM were cut. My department is next. I just know I'll be one of them despite being a top performer.
