@e7 Dallas is the pit spawn of he-l. Plus, it's Texas, which just su-ks apart from the weather. It's miserable for 8 months out of the year, not 2
@dt don't let the nay sayers convince you that the weather is a deal breaker to live somewhere, truth is, most months of the year pretty much every city in the US is a decent place to live
so many people say, oh portland, so rainy, but is that really a big deal.....phoenix too hot...but only for a few months.....texas too humid, again only for what 2 months
not a deal breaker if you can have a good job, nice safe clean neighborhood and good people around you, its a win.
or live amongst crime and grim in portland with the highest taxes in the country, not to mention a bunch of blue haired geriatric's carrying protest signs around ....what is that anyway
@cs Colorado winters are almost as mild as Oregons except for 1-2 weeks out of the year when you get big snows. Way nicer weather than oregon in general. Texas is ducking abysmal however
Texas is hot, Colorado has a snowy, cold winter.
Which is part of why they would have jobs it’s less attractive to live there if those factors are on your care list.
If you are a rabbits whisker from 60 the job market everywhere is bad. A expensive west Coast state is just the worst for minimum survival.
@c0 friend of mine got dumped by a joint in swan Island and she's STILL working temp jobs from 2023. Boo jobs su-k
I was laid off in October, applied on so many roles in Pdx area but no luck. Later I got five offers, all out of state. I ended up accepting an offer in Chicago area, higher pay than NIKE. Though I miss Oregon, I am fortunate to have an out of state offer for financial stability.
@bz pretty much everything, lower taxes, clean streets, actual law enforcement, you know, all those things companies need and expect to grow and foster a business in a thriving community
we pay the highest taxes in the country, have the highest homeless rates, constant failure of government on spending tax money collected.
and no end in sight for rising taxes or a better future for this city
so none of that helps when trying to find work.....if you can relocate, it would help, remote jobs are fewer these days
@OP short answer? Nope. Oregon is oversaturated with high skilled workers. Most of my contacts are in Texas and Colorado now. No idea what they are doing so right opposed to us.
