Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Dallas forecast and RTO compliance

I assume Dallas will shut down this week when the snow hits. Some forecasts predict twelve inches. Is everyone planning to work from home? Or since we can’t get to the office, and that’s the only place we can work, do we get a snow day off? My supervisor is on maternity leave so no info coming,, wondering what others are hearing.

It’s still just January. You have plenty of PTO. If you really feel you can’t find a solution for getting to work, use a vacation day as a backup.

With layoffs on the horizon I wouldn’t take any chances. The less days and hours you have on the report the more likely you are to be tapped. Don’t give them a reason.

They don’t care. Just be in the office no matter what, a little snow isn’t going to hurt you. Grow up.

The highway was closed by the state last year because it wasn't passable. I was told, so there's side roads, take them in.

Imagine, if the highway is a mess and closed, how much worse the side roads are. You know what, I have this cough starting, I shouldn't be around others, I'll be using a sick day. Or three.

Last year they told us we could WFH if the roads were bad. Then they said, oops, we shouldn't have said that. So its office or PTO. (aka sick day.)

I will be taking a sick day as I am told I can't work from home.

Use your brain. Watch the weather. Listen to local authorities about safety. Make a decision for yourself. Goodness. It isn’t that hard. T will never offer you snow day pay. It isn’t elementary school. You are an adult. You don’t need permission to be safe.

Tell us in the northeast that you’re not going to RTO because of a little snow. You’re expected to show up 5 days a week for 8 hours a day. There’s no “snow day” be a man and get in your car and drive to the office and actually work. Stop looking for a free vacation day.

@ds don’t be surprised when you receive your termination. RTO is the only thing that matters here now. Better use vacation.

I’ve been told to use the code for building closed because of bad weather. If the facility doesn’t close I’ve been told i need to take a vacation day to stay home and work.

So there's no one filling in for your supervisor in their absence, to approve this sort of request in advance?

If not, then...LOOPhollllle!
Simply email your supervisor with a snippet from this Friday's weather forecast (while adding in a link to one of the most recent local weather prediction snowmageddon hyperbolic news stories featuring "extreme weather warning" status for good measure). In addition to the link and snippet, simply state in your email that due to the impending storm, you will be WFH on Friday. So technically, you have notified your supervisor in advance!

Also, you're not requestiong to WFH that day, as if RTO would make just as much sense. You're telling them that due to the extreme weather for that day, you'll be WFH.
And since the supe. probably won't be reading your notification (again, not a request) to them about Friday until later, you're in the clear!

No one's going to argue with you about wanting to avoid severe weather, especially if you include how "official sources" (hyperbolic weathercasters from MSM news outlets) are warning people to stay off the roads and avoid travel during that time. You're staying home out of "caution" and "safety", not convenience or preference! wink wink

The worst that can happen is, you're forced to change it on your timesheet to a day of PTO after the fact. But it's seriously doubtful that would happen.
No one's going to challenge you on this, because lots of others will be WFH that day too, due to the same circumstance (weather) that is affecting all, and out of everyone's control.

Pack enough for a few days. You’ll be sleeping in the office under your drop in desk in a sleeping bag. I suggest you go Saturday night in preparation. Make no mistake the most important thing is that you RTO. Make sure you go outside each day and get those swipes in. Your value here is directly tied to badge swipes and hours sat in seat and nothing else.

Pack an ovenihht bag and plan to stay a night or two if the weather gets really bad. There are also several hotel options near the HQ building.

Last year we were told to work from home. Then they came out and said oops. We shouldn’t have allowed that. So get in or pto.

Lol. Stankey told you that you were not allowed to work from home. If you ever feel that your safety or the safety of others is being ignored by your leadership, don't fret. AT&T is a huge social influencer. That's all we are. So, if you think AT&T is putting tens of thousands of Children, Women, Peaceful Protesters, Animals, and other living things at risk, local media wants to know. Here's how to contact them.

WFAA - ABC 214.977.6240 news8@wfaa.com, newsdesk@wfaa.com

KDAF - Tribune 214.252.3300, https://cw33.com/contact/

And so ends another hour of work at AT&T. Thank you for the $100, Stank.

The company has taken the stance that if you’re not in the office you aren’t working, so no you cannot WFH, but you can take a vacation day if you believe you can’t make it in the office.

If they tell you to WFH then you should tell them that you can’t and enjoy your day(s) off.

If you don’t want to go in the office you’ll have to use 8 hours vacation. See you on the commute.

If you don’t want to go in the office then you’ll have to use vacation days. Same as if you had home maintenance. Now get to the office.

You can either use your PTO vacation days or find a way into the office. Toughen up and use those big stupid trucks yall drive. There is no excuse not to RTO. It’s snowed for millions of years and going in the office during snow been done over a century.
