Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

8 hours in office

Effective immediately? What a sh-t show.
Tracking our mouse movements or clicks.
I assume Q1 is the announcement of 4 days a week or back to 5.

I guess this is one way of saying, I’m only doing my 8 hours and shutting down.. see ya again at 7am.

Exactly! They let me go earlier this year, 10 months of severance plus the 60 days. Got another job fairly quickly and am still double dipping. Don’t quit, let them lay you off.

I'll get right on that Charlie, all you have to do first is start writing severance checks. 26 of those, plus another couple months for "notification". I'm not leaving without it.

All: you don’t have to put up with this. Look elsewhere. Launch a job search—get started this weekend. Don’t just sit around complaining, though. Negativity will take you to a dark place.

Who cares if it’s soft launch - if it’s not formally communicated in writing, why would you do it?

@k4+1k5yhtyph
It is written down, it's on a SharePoint site. Been viewed like 50k times.

Only Managers have access to it. This is a textbook corporate “soft launch” of a policy they know will be unpopular.

Searched policies and teamworks and finding nothing. If it’s not written down I’m not doing it - plain and simple.

@dn I think it means that they have a policy now that is 8 hours. They may not enforce it over 4 hours technically. However, it gives them a real good lever to pull to reduce bonuses or let go of people for non compliance if they want to

Hey copilot, how much money could WF save every year if they went full remote for as many roles as possible?

There, I utilized AI. HY happy now?

by

Post ID: @fd+1k5yhtyph

@f8 It seems strange to use access and usage of AI tools as a metric. My role and others on my team rarely if ever use any of the AI tools they’ve added. We just don’t have much legitimate need for them.

Should I just start asking Co Pilot random banking related questions?

Post ID: @fb+1k5yhtyph

@f8 so we should use it all day long?

More good news: B-brother is monitoring AI tool access, by the employee and by the day. If failing to stumble through the turn-styles out of breath on time doesn't get you, this surely will.

Does this not apply to anyone in the HR LOB? I have a friend that works in HR and says her manager hasn’t said anything about 8 hrs. She is still coffee badging.

Yes its the boomer 1980's mindset because "community" I poked 100 holes in that when my manager told me this, such as if the company cares about its employee community they would give people assigned desks again. Or not get a hard on when talking about AI replacing its workforce. They love talking about the future of work then, but when you bring up the future of work is remote work they shrivel up and run back to their Mad Men episodes.

Do people feel entitled to a job? If you're paying (employing) someone and they don't honor your requests/rules, do you keep sending them your money? Doubt it.

It doesn’t make sense whatsoever a blind 8 day rollout.

I’m an hourly employee working an office job and what if I do extra hours because of calls earlier in the week but still need to go in office for 8 hours on a Friday? Do I get mandatory overtime, do I not count those days in office? If I do calls at 7am do I have to be in office? It just doesn’t make sense and worst of all out of the 2 year I had been employed here I only worked in person with actual people in my team for 3 months out of my tenure. I have to spend 24 hours a week in office that not a single other person in my team is in.

HR here. It’s true. They also will be monitoring that we are working 8 hours when working remote. Keystrokes? Mouse clicks? Screen grabs? Ridiculous!

What you and shart are missing is that people won't leave, they'll just stay about be demotivated AF and the company will continue to slide into the abyss. What he's hoping happens isn't going to on a large scale, which is why he keeps increasing the misery. Previous attempts haven't worked. This won't either, especially in this market, but what it will do is decrease employee effectiveness in ways that are subtle enough not to result in corrective action, but severe enough that company success isn't really possible. These are failed leaders with a dinosaur mindset. Herd animals following trends. No original thoughts, no vision, no leadership, no wisdom. Glad we're paying these JPM rejects $100M a year, collectively, to crank out these tu-ds.

@d9 Workday. There is a PDF in manager notes or resource. It is visible to everyone just lets you know that your managers have received the communication. It does say a full day is 8 hours. Half day PTO counts as full day and goes into more detail. I am sure this will be a slow roll back to pre-covid

“ Ok but if the statement is “we are still flexible, pick up your kids, go to your doctor visits”, then how is it still 8 hours? Is 7 ok? Is 6.5 ok? What does it all mean?” Maybe they want people to pick up kids or see doctors ten come back to the office to fulfill their 8 hours….They are so evil

Wells’ new slogan should be “Our consumers hate us and now so do our employees. Making people miserable since 2002.”

Or

“Have too much joy and trust in your life? Come join the Wells family as a consumer or employee where we guarantee you a miserable time.”

@de not sure if you are understanding the issue here… I CAN DO MY WORK WITH NO ISSUE AT HOME. Why the f^** do I want to sit in traffic when I could have been productive in my office AT HOME??? To sit in an office where no one on my team is located; have no idea who is sitting next to me because it’s a new person weekly?!

Look at how mad you all are about a non-human business entity deciding to enforce a policy. If you are angry you are institutionalized, weak minded and lack the skills to cope with change. Fix yourself and your life will be better. Queue the “boot li---r” comments.

Your easy street living is over. There is a simple solution, find somewhere that delivers what you want. That’s all there is to this. Or continue to “rally against the machine” like you’re some kind of union going to shut down production. This is not a Communist or Socialist country, you do, in fact, have the ability to make free will choices that will affect the quality of life you have.

In my area, they are looking at the network connectivity reporting for monitoring compliance for 8 hours in office. Last week I went home after 6 hours and it didn’t count as a day in the office. My manager already told me it would negatively impact my year end review rating but they’ve been trying to get rid of me for months.

Now I make sure I’m meeting the 8 hour compliance. I’ve been looking for a new job for a long time, the market is tough and I need a paycheck so I’m stuck!
