Thread regarding F5 Networks Inc. layoffs

Disappointed in the way it was done

I read posts on LinkedIn from people who were with the company for 12, 18 and even 25 years who were laid off in this Aug 2025 RIF. Imagine working for a company for 25 years and then being cast aside like nothing with a sh---y pre-recorded 5 min call. The small severance amount is also insulting. I’m shocked by how all these loyal employees were treated.

Why ask us to work for that amount of time continuously, when you want to get rid of the product.

There are reasons that people would ask you for that:

  • They didn't know the shutdown was coming.
  • They had heard rumors and desperately thought, we're this close; let's pull it together and salvage the project.
  • They had heard rumors, believed them and thought the best way to protect themselves was to be seen as someone who could push people.

In the strategy day meeting Q&A someone had asked why did not leadership mentioned about BIGIP Next? And as usual they dodged the question a
and the body language was under confident too.

The joke is the fact that they call themselves "Human first". The product they cut off was the one that was due release in another maybe a month. We all worked for 10-16 hours a day even the day before. If they were planning to cut the product off, they would have known this at least months prior.

@dj Not expecting loyalty, but employers used to have a humane element of showing respect to the employees that have stuck by them through the years and contributed towards their success. Maybe a personal call with their manager, a sensible explanation of why and better severance to support them when THEY are down. Not whatever pathetic thing this was - laying off people after the best financial quarter in 10 years.

Perhaps you haven't experienced kindness from any of your employers, or maybe this is just how the American tech industry is nowadays. Purely transactional with no soul or humanity.

A Sales VP used a thumb drive, copied F5 global services structure and business model, left to join Palo Alto, built PANW global support team exactly identical to the job titles. Data security is everything!
When one is on theRIF list or to be fired or given notice, one's access is cut off.

Imagine thinking that any company will show loyalty to anyone who works there for any amount of time.....

@bn Once you’re terminated, or even told you’ll be terminated soon, your access to corporate assets is limited or completely shut off. All corporations do this. It’s standard procedure. Be glad you’re not physically escorted from the building, that practice was the norm prior to COVID in many companies. It’s how they protect against the 0.5% that might use that access to seek revenge. There are examples out there of significant damage done this way. It’s another case of a few ruining things for the vast majority. And it’s not going to get better.

@OP There is no point in being loyal, working for free and working overtime, sweating too much. You do ONLY your work. That's what you get paid for. It's like B2B. You pay, I provide service.
But even in normal B2B relations, people act professionally - they announce that they will not need your services from next week or next month. Only sc-m shuts down your laptop remotely without letting you know earlier that the business is over.

@OP 12 years in the company. A call of 5 mins without microphone or video and no idea how many people impacted even for the managers that were not fired. Ugly is not enough to describe it.
