Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Has anybody here worked for BofA?

How does it compare? I'm considering an offer, but their page on this forum is eerily similar to ours when it comes to issues. I'd just like to hear from somebody who's worked at both places.

Great benefits (20 days vacation plus 10 sick plus holidays)...15% less pay but my group at bofa didn't do nearly as much shady stuff as wells.....I'd go back to bofa for 20% less than wf is paying me...truth

@jy agree. Underpaid and bonus are really low. Plus their deadlines for work are intense. Haven’t worked there since 2017. I had exceeds almost each year and highest bonus i had was $9,000 when it was GT&O working on high priority projects with billion dollar budgets in some cases. I would not want to go back there unless by some miracle they paid better.

Pay at BofA is low. Bonuses are paltry.

@cs I was at BofA for 12 years. Do they still only give salary increases for change in job scope? That’s how it worked when Inwas there. Bonus was for performance, raises only for bigger scope.

Its about the same at all big banks. The reality is that there are way more people wanting corporate banking jobs than there are positions to fill. People whine on here constantly but 95% of the workforce would be thrilled to give up their jobs to come sit at a computer all day for three days a week while making well into six figures with 40 days of PTO a year. Thats a dream job for most. Therefore theres no major incentive for banks to keep putting up with BS from the entitled crowd who want the world to return to COVID rules where they kept 100% of the pay/benefits and never had to leave home.

They expect former Wells people not to like it and keep them on an extra short leash. Operates like a labor boot camp; if you walk with a shoe untied you'll be written up in an HR report. Leadership provides a daily reminder that cr-p rolls downhill. Despised it.

consistent story from many folks who have worked there (echoed in these comments) - overall, pay is better at WF.

culturally - big banks are big banks. every one of them including Wf tries to tell a story about how they revere People As a Competitive Advantage but it's all the same horses*it recycled to make the masses feel inspired and better about the corporate exploitation and abuse.

It's a contract with your employer, pure and simple. you put up with the cr*p because the paycheck is better than you can do or want to do elsewhere.

Work there now in Corp. Sec. Worked at Wells for 10 years, displaced in 2024. BofA is okay, salaries are a bit lower IMO. A lot of the same stuff, so don’t think coming here is a big improvement.

I have a couple of friends in tech at BofA. They all have a higher salary than I do, but their raises and bonuses are pathetic. Even with "exceeds". They make WF look generous. We end up making roughly the same amount of money annually in the end. They also have slightly stricter RTO policies.

I will say wf benefits (Healthcare) is substantially cheaper at wells

@dh I've also witnessed first hand the blockades that emerged from the parking lot damaging the front end of someone's vehicle. This happened in their Villa Park offices location in Glen Allen, VA.

I work at BofA and my SO works at Wells. Pay practices at BofA is horrible compared to wells. It’s funny reading all of the complaints here, you all have no idea. Comp pools are down substantially every year. If you are in the 80% that is not an exceeds rating your compensation will flat or down every year. Yes, people
On my team have total comp down over 10% since the 4 years they joined. True,
Layoffs are almost unheard of since Covid. But that breeds mediocrity which is another problem.

I know of someone who took a job at BofA. During training, they were required to read a book "Why White Man is Bad." Reluctantly they read it since it was required, but they considered saying the heck with this B.S.

@cs for me, pay is at the similar level when you consider benefit. because wf has less pto.

I do not know if boa has stack ranking or not.
if they did, i think it could be the same if in a team majority is Indian under indian manager

Let’s face it ,every company has issues. There is no such thing as workplace Utopia so get that thought out of your mind right from the start. I had to go back to my last resume as I retired from WF back in 2023 and didn’t want to leave any banks out. There are four top tier banks I worked at besides WF and I never had any BofA opportunity. Important note is, I started at each one of these banks as an independent contractor which absolutely was a significant factor in all negotiations. Workplace sanity, management idiosyncrasies, salary, benefits etc, were all apparent so that went without saying. Without any doubt WF was at the top of the list in all categories. I loved my time there. My experience with ANY prospective employer was always on me to get what I wanted and that came from the interview process. Selling your credentials to get the best deal is always on you. Best of luck in your search!

I've worked for bofa 20+ years my SO is at wf. Pay is less, less worry about layoffs than wf. Very dependent on your manager/ team.

My take would be if you can get a good number come on over.

Personally have worked for 4 large banks - they are all the same, because people are the same - they move around, and that’s what drives culture.

I worked at BoA as a manager and came to Wells as a Senior and had a higher salary. I liked Wells much better. Both are evil incarnate though.
