@er Cerner has never embraced Oracle, and working "for" them is excruciating. They are WAY Top Heavy and difficult!

@a8 I mean yeah, the report is real but the analyst isn't basing it off of leaked information. They're just spitballing. 30k reduction in headcount would literally ki-l the company. Selling cerner would be d-mb as he-l since it's the only reliable source of revenue at the moment and it's the backup plan for OCI tenancy if OpenAI doesn't fill up the datacenters.

Oracle might layoff a lot in California from the current rumors...

@et It would make sense that a higher number is leaked to scare people into leaving and making things easier for them.

Oracle will always do layoffs, sad but true.. They appear to come faster and harder over the last few years. So much change. It is up to us as employees to decide if we want To ride the wave or find a new journey outside of the company. Job market isn’t great, but if you have desire and passion, go find it. I look everyday. For now until, I find something I know I am getting a paycheck. The daily stress is real.. We got this. Peace and love.

30,000 is not an accurate estimate. Here’s what the article covers:

  1. Selling Cerner: This is not an immediate possibility.
  2. Layoffs: The focus will be on middle management, pmts and the business will continue as usual. Directors and managers with fewer than 10 reports and those involved in pure people management are in trouble. Executives are being pressured to bring AI into the organization to reduce costs and resources as much as possible.
  3. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD): Customers are encouraged to bring their own devices to reduce payments and high costs.

Practically, Oracle’s earnings are insufficient to cover its debt and expenses, and major US banks are not willing to provide further loans. The only viable option is cost-cutting. Staying or surviving in this situation still makes you vulnerable to future rounds of layoffs and 0 hikes. Start searching in mid tier companies rather than big FAANG and plan for mass exodus.

Starting your job search early gives you an advantage, especially if you are in the process of obtaining a visa. I would not consider any offers from Oracle or internal transfers.

@cp do you mean L2 (just below board). M7 is an uncommon level, in most cases it goes from M6 to M8.

@dh why do you say June? recent murmurings have been suggesting March. I don't know, either way.

lets be honest, we got another massive reorg going for June. Even though much of the business is streamline under Mark Hura, vs being a SaaS and OCI silos, the business still is extremely inefficient with products and services over lapping. I expect June will result in many senior and tenured people, especially in sales let go for cheaper resources aka 20/30s with minimal experience.

cio.com is reputable and they are saying they say this report, so it's safe at least to say that this report is for real. What the analyst is basing this on, that I don't think we know.
