As part of the cost savings, the layoffs are currently happening and some will commence next year.

@jh Indeed. Large corporations have armies of lawyers who make sure the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed. Ambulance chasers know that the odds of winning are slim to none, so they don't take on wrongful dismissal cases on contingency.

My sugestion to anyone impacted in EMEA is (regardless of the package and the agreements of the local work councils) to sue the company.
@fe Well, most of that leasing out of buildings has a lot to do with people working from home. They're not using the office space filling up cubicles, so yeah they lease it out.
@dg They do focus on laying off Americans first. Just look at any US campus, They tend to be up to 80% leased out.
The company has long been in milking mode but is now preparing to enter an udderly dry spell, the beginning of the end, in which the milk is waning. Good luck to the customers still subject to the vendor lock-in. Better luck to those fleeing for the open source fields and upstarts / startups.
@ax 10 % of the workforce in Europe is enough…they should follow up cutting the fatties in US since they have much more of those there…
@OP too late , this has been going on since September , some of those 1.8 K already gone , some on garden leave , some will be out next January …
