Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

Try to enjoy your weekend as much as you can

Tough times are ahead. Again. I'm training myself to use every moment away from work for myself, to stop carrying it with me all the time. I can't influence what's going to happen, so I can at least try to enjoy what precious free time I have. Good luck to everyone next week. Be good to yourself.

@f5 Sad part is any underperforming products are a result of executive level failure, endless processes and bureaucracy and ki-l innovation. Now R&D will pay the price

@df if they layoff R&D now, they’ll be setting up Ayman for failure.

@cz R&D is NOT getting a pass

In prep for Ayman in April, we are running the "IBM Playbook” IBM’s favorite strategy for declining units is to "digitize the tail" meaning you automate the customer service and renewal functions and lay off the human workforce managing them.

The rumors aren't pointing to R&D or Sales, but specifically to Account Management and Renewals.

It’s just a job, overthinking will simply raise your stress levels.

Update your CV and have a chat with a couple of decent recruiters, ask them what the markets like right now and I’m sure you will be surprised, it’s good.

Then just have a conversation with any of the companies they feel will be a good fit and see how a different company feels and their vision.

Then when you feel a bit better about the fact there is a whole world outside OpenText walk into each day and meeting like you don’t give a darn what anyone thinks.

Get in, do your job well finish on time and get logged off and out on time too.

That’s the contract, that’s the role and if they don’t like it you will have options!!!

Stay safe and be happy…….

I mentioned the rumor of layoffs on Monday and didn't get a response at all. It spoke volumes. Being in the US and virtual with dwelling direct reports I feel like I'll be put out of my misery on Monday. Leaving this toxic environment will be a blessing even if not getting decent severance for my 20+ years will make things more difficult.

My director is not saying anything about next week. It was as if everything is business as usual. I'm nervous.
