Thread regarding SAP layoffs

convo with manager

im sorry for the vague post. i dont have a lot of info and im wondering if anyone has heard anything similar.

i have a great relationship with my manager. they told me in our last meeting that they were told to brace for a disruptive announcement. i didnt think much of it but now i cant get it off my mind. thats all i know and i cant say where i am in sap or i risk me and my manager.

i dont want to start drama. i am just wondering if anyone heard anything similar and can help me understand whats happening. i am afraid to ask at the office.

Right now, leadership has IT looking for the SAPer with a busted shift key.

your time is almost up!

Disruptive? That rules out it being related to Joule then!

@ax I can't argue with that. I've been praying for that severance package for well over a year now. lol

@a5 I dunno. I'd say worst case scenario is actually that you DON'T get laid off - so you miss out on severance - and you're stuck here at this miserable company with the threat of layoffs and manufactured performance issues hanging over you.

I don't have a clue what your manager may be alluding to. I wasn't going to comment, but did want to point something out that may ease your fears. As your post suggests, it's not what we know that keeps us up at night but what we don't know.

Leadership communications are written as if everyone thinks and feels the same way as leadership. "Disruptive" to them could mean anything from layoffs, to a policy change that most wouldn't care about, to another scandal about to drop. Think of other possibilities. Not just the ones that stress you out.

I've found peace just accepting that layoffs can come at any moment. Don't let the doom and gloom messaging freak you out. I know plenty of people who left SAP, found jobs, and are much better off. Some were part of the reorgs. Worst case scenario: You'll be laid off and end up working somewhere that doesn't stress you out as much.

Hang in there.
