GTO to face 30% stateside reduction

Leaders have started meetings this week to address cutting resources, mostly onshore, before eoy to meet 2026 budget and mgcc staffing commitments.

On a similar topic, there continues to be odd conversations about consolidating into a single Cary building which would only be accomplished by more cuts and offshoring.

The future doesn’t look very good for those stateside.

Well if you want to fast-track yourself out all you need to do is start publicly calling out the VPs who control the budgets. Start questioning how in the world they operate at a deficit every year and just like that, their AVP minions will be given the order to put you on the lay-off list. Easy-peasy.

@d8y there's plenty of Dee-EE-Eye's at 200 Park that need to go, too.

How about the grown a$$ MEN in the 200 Park Ave office, who have wives and children. These MEN whine and whine about not being able to come into the office because (1) it's too cold outside and (2) transportation is on a weekend schedule (hourly). Mother Met of course coddles these precious beings wholeheartedly. I present to you, the New Frontier my friends.

Stating the obvious:

All of the executive leadership are globalists. So if your job is outsourced to a 3rd world shithole…this is why. They are Blackrock’s bi--hes. Make no mistake.

@8w1 not here, my friend. Too cheap to pay for AI. The best we can do is the free co pilot chat.

@48n Have they changed their tune about RTO? The last thing I saw Michel say about it before I left was that they had no plans to demand workers be onsite.

That would be INSANE and I agree, folks would be looking to GTFO

@480 RTO for 5 days a week will have many running for the door. How many can stand to be micromanaged by these incompetent stooges every single day?

@OP Is there a source for the "30% stateside reduction"? Just wondering if that came from anyone senior enough to KNOW about it or if it is from someone trying to read the tea leaves.

Regarding Cary going down to a single building: I was laid off over 3 months ago, but even then any time I went to Met2 it was like a ghost town. They probably aren't far from being able to fit into a single building already - and could certainly get there just by letting more roles go remote.

@1aa - Regarding the tax incentives coming to an end, the company could probably have them extended/renewed.

Yep. Check out this article from 2013. It says the tax breaks are to be spread of 12 years.

Guess what? The 12 years are up.

https://www.benefitspro.com/2013/04/17/north-carolina-official-argues-against-metlife-tax/

Quote from the 2013 article:
"MetLife last month was awarded a Job Development Investment Grant worth up to $87 million, the largest in the history of the state's biggest discretionary incentive program. The grant allows the insurance giant to take tax breaks over 12 years if it meets hiring and investment targets."

The Al Champions for each LOB have absolutely no clue what they are doing. The wrong people were selected to lead the AI efforts across Met. I am seeing it unfold and it is not good. I am not too worried about AI taking over non-IT jobs there anytime soon or even in the next 5 years. No one wants to listen to the employees with the actual brains.

@er I’m sure they’ll get out as soon as their guaranteed time is up. They had to commit to x years to get the tax breaks they’ve had until recently. I’m sure their goal is a completely off shore work force and AI. Even though AI isn’t very good. The c suite aren’t that smart.

Many TCS folks are sticking around hoping to be hired. If you’re onshore, it’s not happening. Used and abused. Move on. Leaders were informed there will be no onshore conversions. I requested to be moved out.

The consolidation will eventually lead to them pulling out of Cary all together. Buckle up buttercups. If you're still there, you're already too late to get out the door. Start telling your master's to just go ahead and give you a package and cut the umbilical cord. It's not going to get better. All the AVPs and VPs are just sticking around because they'll get the supreme package including all their SRU's and stock options.
