Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

No rest

Usually I can't wait for an extra day off. Right now, I don't care. I'm so stressed I know I won't be able to enjoy it. Oracle has taken all the joy out of the few extra days off we have and replaced it with dread. All I can think about is, am I next? I hate this place so, so much.

@d7 I joined just three months ago and have already started looking again. I understand layoffs can happen anywhere, but the way this is being handled feels unsettling, and it’s not something I want to be part of.

@d7 Business as usual. Some were impacted and still manage to come back at O =business as usual. You are a number to deliver a product and we get paid as simple as that. Corporations do not owe us anything we work, we get paid

The beatings .... or layoffs and no pay increases... will continue until morale improves.

I really don't ever have a day off, I am always thinking about the pain awaiting me when I sign on again.

Sadly, if you get RIF'd the stress will be even greater that what the OP mentioned. Went thru it a few years back while at Oracle. Had the high stress going on for several months before the RIF, tried everything under the sun to find a new job, still got RIF'd by Oracle. Took 5 painful months to land a new position after applying for over 200 jobs, and that was back when the IT job market was far better than it is now.

Hope 9/2 works out for everyone. Even if you survive the next layoff round, start looking for a new job NOW. You will need the extra runway to land another position.

I was d-mb and checked my email today. I have an 8am meeting with my manager Tuesday to discuss a business update. Which is the HR standard subject line.

Even if someone survives this round stretching this out has worn every one. Even someone who entered the workforce recently will rethink to continue working here.

I have feared this as-well, I have a few companies in mind just in case but I will file unemployment asap due to the terrible job market.

At least they are Not ruining Labor Day weekend. A colleague told me we are fortunate to have 'severance' she worked at a start-up no severance that's it.

Meaning of Labor Day in the USA: Labor Day in the U.S. is a federal holiday celebrating the social and economic achievements of American workers, originating from the late 19th-century labor movement that fought for better working conditions. While a tribute to workers, the holiday, observed on the first Monday in September, also marks the symbolic end of summer and is celebrated with parades, picnics, and athletic events

You need to try and back some control.

Come up with an exit plan in case you are "picked".

An employer or an employee can give notice to quit with very little notice.

Long careers with a single emotion are long gone in almost all cases.
