@d6 Very true. I loved the group I was in, management up the chain was great to work for. I've heard from friends in other groups/organizations though that told a completely different story

Yea, it depends where U are. MCI was much worse...like a shark tank. Oracle used to be
great then...they fired Randy Baker (vp) and that was the start. I thought I was supporting an important product and volume was up, so I would be safe. Nope.

This is SO helpful. Before reading this thread I always thought it was just ME. Now... epiphany! It's really Oracle.
The endless fire drills, where with zero notice, my manager demands the latest "dashboard" metrics, to be rolled up for his manager, and then their manager, ad nauseum, where I input 100% fiction, describing meetings I didn't attend, code I pretended to write, customers I never spoke to, time spent troubleshooting make-believe technical issues. On and on. Straight into the dashboard. In fact the hardest part of my job is dreaming up enough fiction to satisfy on such short notice.

And I have sometimes wondered. Do any of my teammates do the same thing? Obviously this isn't something one cops to with co-workers. Yet the dysfunction is so high here, maybe everyone else is doing the same thing?

And all along I thought I didn't know what I was doing and doubting myself when it's really just the company.

@OP, thanks for putting the spotlight on the real issue here, the simple fact that Oracle just su*cks really really hard.

@a2 Your mileage may vary, depending on which division you are in.

The worst, most toxic company that I've worked for in my 25 year career.

I would add 40-50 more reallys and still would match up to the real state. Any one who says otherwise is either a delusional vp or manager who likes to be ego stroked and who just looks at the glint surverys , IC"s know the real state of this sh-t hole.
