Technology employment half of all worker here. Outsourcing is right solution. But too late

Trimming fat makes us more attractive to potential buyers. Why keep expensive support staff and their benefits etc when we can offshore that function? Use this time to upskill. Nobody wants to pay 300k for a 50k service.

Which team does this affect?

@sy Makes me wonder. I fully expect most of us to be in one of these rounds of layoffs in the next 12-18 months if we have not been bought by then. I have just accepted it and prepared for next moves afterwards. I don't like it but the writing is on the wall in my opinion.

i find it interesting/amusing that the “brain picking “ sessions, at least the first two, are voluntary. i mean i guess, how are you gonna force someone to share all their knowledge. i imagine most of the folks with lots of institutional knowledge know what’s really happening here. should be interesting

They’re so terrified to say “outsource” that there’s a line in the intro deck for the Q&A that has “insource” (TRP associates) and “strategic partners” (offshore) in the same sentence. We can all see through the BS.

@da I prefer to call it FUBLOW

That has been one of the saddest things about this whole thing - as how management normalizes the He-l out of it. It is just "how things are" and management acts happy about it. A real dagger to the soul. I considered looking at other jobs in the firm, but I decided against it. There are 3 kinds of TRPers today: 1) Managers, 2) People who will be gone within the next year and a half, 3) People that will be gone after that. I have asked friends about jobs here, and I shut the topic down.

@d5, what's sad is that they aren't even really trying to hide it, or not putting much effort into it. The BS about strategic partners having expertise, blah blah blah, is laughable based upon my experience with our partners so far. The summary I read lays out the "pick your brain, push you out" plan pretty clearly. It's all about the $$.

@cj That’s also what I gathered from it. I guess this is a sign to update my resume…

To me, it reads like an effort to glean as much current state information from the SME's that are still here and have "our strategic partners" build the solution. I can predict what happens next...

Just a different, larger version of train your replacement IMO.

Reading the overview shows me no indication that current associates and SME's are included for anything other than information gathering.

But then maybe I am jaded after watching what has happened this past year.
