Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

I would love to see some numbers on RTO

You know - increased efficiency, better outcomes. Measurable effects of increased collaboration. By how much people became more creative and better at problem solving. And of course, how much happier and healthier we are from coming into the office and being around other people.

I can only speak for myself. My life has improved immensely. I'm positively cheerful. I get excited every time I pull into a gas station to tank up. I've made so many new friends! Doesn't matter that none of them are on my team. I barely see my family anymore, but socializing in the office is a fair tradeoff. And where else would I find time to listen to my favorite podcasts if not during my hour-plus commute? So many improvements!

There's a whole bunch of people going to legends in our group who didn't meet RTO standards ... So much for fair play...if you're written up you're not supposed to get the top award....

@hx as soon as the job market begins to shift, all the companies that forced people back into offices are going to see a mass exodus of people leaving for different companies.

I unfortunately don't see this being the case any time soon though. 5+ years probably.

That's provided that they haven't offshored 70-80% of everything and AI hasn't overtaken.

Zero chance of seeing any numbers. Why? Because they do not support RTO implementation as a success. While I understand they are trying to save commercial real estate investments this is most likely the worst way to implement RTO. Someday GK and MC will realize their workforce is way smarter than they are credited for and it will be too late by then.

This forced in officemfetish is going to cost them big time. Who is going to turn on their laptop after coming home form the office. No one! When you are working form it’s not uncommon to knock out to dos at 5:30, 6pm, or even later. No mas!

@d5 this is the same boat I'm in. 150+ desks on one of the floors in my hub; 20 people max at any time. My closest colleagues are both 800+ miles away working remote. RTO is a productivity hit just so executives can say that I swiped my badge. Make it make sense!

It's literally insane that I have to go to an office where none of my team is located; just so my senior manager can stay off my back. It's all about checking off a box saying you met your badge count for the month. It's not about protecting data on our laptops or any other id--tic reason they come up with; otherwise they'd enforce 100% of employees RTO.

This company gets 2 extra hours out of me on days when I am not in the office, so RTO is a productivity hit. No collaboration benefits as I do not have a single person from my team in my hub.

My only friends in the office are bedbugs.

I am now using Audile and listening to to Podcasts more since RTO. Thank you RTO!
Next up, going to try to learn a foreign language on Audio.
My cubicle mate is going to report me to ice when I start saying SI and Amigo all of a sudden. El Fuego. adios

Working from home is more productive, but let's be honest, this is about outsourcing and cutting domestic employee expense. Basically NAFTA part 2, but for white collar workers. Even if you adhere to the in office policy, this doesn't make your job any safer. I would cut expenses, ditch the mortgage if the monthly cost is more than rent, and maybe downsize to one car, and get a side gig. This isn't going away and will accelerate once they figure out AI isn't the solution to all of their expensive employees.

@a3 I meant the psychopaths that want to “work in the office”. All the rest of us normies want to work AT HOME

It’s such bullsh-t. Everyone except a few psychopaths want to work at home with their family being there, use your own bathrooms, eat your own food even if it’s “free!” “catered!” because it’s all slop.

People can take their kids to school, pick them up, everything is better when you work at home, and LBH, you work LONGER, you’re not in horrible traffic and you’re a happier employee!
