Layoffs/RIFs

Are there any upcoming layoffs/RIFS in IT departments, besides SRE?

@10j We are having contractors, mostly offshore, taken away. Not sure what is going on but it is never good. Maybe lower the # of employees (full time and contractors) to help make us look better for the next round of speed dating to try attract a suitor.

@kr What a horrible thing to wish on other people! Layoffs aren’t designed for those like you who do not want to work for the company anymore and are either too scared or under skilled to go find another job.. Layoffs not only impact the employee, they impact their family, the community and more. If you are relying on a two week per year payoff, maybe you should try harder and find a job that pays more to get you out. I’m sure that would be a benefit not only to Humana, but to anybody that currently works with you.

Yes, it’s absolutely terrible—and unfortunately very common in today’s economy—to live with that constant undercurrent of worry about your job, income, healthcare, and overall stability due to layoffs, restructurings, quarterly earnings pressures, and broader economic uncertainty.
Research and surveys consistently show that job insecurity takes a serious toll on mental and physical health. For example, more than half of U.S. workers (around 54%) report that job insecurity significantly ramps up their work-related stress, with many fearing job loss in the near term due to economic factors or policy changes.

it doesn’t have to be like this It’s exhausting and unfair that so many have to carry this load just to get by. #VoteForChange .

@d3 was wondering if that will affect IT departments anytime soon. And if so, which IT departments

If you heard the 2026 projections, there will be strategic layoffs all year long, will be sold, or driven into bankruptcy as JR has experience in that regard. Such a shame for a company that was a pillar in Louisville for such a long time. I've watched it from inside and a far turn into a house of horrors for many including myself.
