Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Relocating to Plano.

First time to Dallas. I am seeing traffic is 1 to 1 and half hour each way. Normal traffic in other cities is around 45-50 minutes.

What time do you guys start and leave from work to be in compliance but still have time to pick up/drop off kids.

I have been working 6a-2p ever since I was called back to 5x8. If I work over 32 hours on Mon-Thur then I only work enough hours to get to 40 for the week on Friday. On occasion I have left work after 6 hours on Friday. Grabbed a noon lunch on the way home. 8 & Skate, it can wait!

@dx yeah...go find that policy, and where it shows a salaried worker putting in 8 hours is going to get fired. Especially when there has been no communication for those expectations or policy set and disseminated anywhere. Get real...

@dx wrong. There is no official blanket policy for core hours. That is made up. Good luck firing someone for working 8-9 hours. You bootlickers are funny.

“most groups don't have "code hours",”

HR has set core hours in mind. If seen to consistently be MIA in the afternoon for your time zone, your manager will have no ability to save you once HR targets you.

It's cute that you think they care about the fact you have kids and a scheduling conflict....they...don't...care...

No company cares.

@d2 - totally depends on your group but most groups don't have "code hours", makes it kind of hard to work well with teams in other time zones and countries...

“out the door at 2 home by 5:45…..”

This is not meeting full core hours and is going to end up getting your presence report profile flagged.

First you were a fool for moving there. But don’t worry…once you get used to the new nightmare, they will change your assignment location! You were asked to move because they want you gone and you didn’t take the bait…

I see more lines on my forehead , everyday red baggy eyes, droopy cheeks, sleepy. It's either my commute or I'm just aging. Sigh.

If more oarents used the established school bus system, traffic would greatly decrease. #BigCheese

Make your kids walk to and from school. If it’s too far they should be taking the bus.

Because so many people here aren’t from here, the traffic is insane.

Have the kids ride the bus.

Don’t be late, or you may need to seek other employment…the school drop off is not available. Pay someone. Sorry

I work from 6 to 2. I'd split pick up and drop off with the wife. My hours are flexible so I'd work around her schedule.

From my experience you can’t drop off and pickup kids. At best, my spouse and I alternate to balance and meet work requirements.

Why are you choosing to rent so far away from your work location?

Imagine commuting three hours round trip to sit in the office and do teams calls that can be done at home and never actually talk to anyone in person.

That’s AT&T for you.

Man, couldn’t be me.
