Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Make the move

At AT&T, I’ve come to understand that the true path to long-term success isn’t just about individual performance—it’s about alignment, proximity, and shared commitment to the mission. For many of us who have advanced in this company, moving closer to the operational and strategic center in Dallas has been a turning point in our careers.

I made personal sacrifices to climb the ladder of success—leaving behind familiarity, adjusting to new routines, and prioritizing the demands of the role over comfort. Those decisions weren’t easy, but they created real opportunities for growth, visibility, and collaboration that simply aren’t as accessible from a distance.

Dallas represents more than just a location; it represents focus, teamwork, and accountability. Being physically closer to leadership and cross-functional teams strengthens communication, accelerates decision-making, and reinforces the shared obligation we all carry to deliver for customers and for each other.

From a business perspective, this alignment matters. When teams operate with tighter coordination and fewer barriers, execution improves. That kind of operational efficiency and cohesion is ultimately good for performance—and by extension, supportive of long-term shareholder value and stock strength.

In that sense, moving to Dallas isn’t just a personal career decision. It’s a commitment to the broader team, to the company’s direction, and to building a stronger, more unified organization.

I often wonder how many T employees have fallen through the cracks and are not accounted for. I know there are some but how many?
Receive pay but are not responsible for anything.

@OP

"it’s about alignment, proximity, and shared commitment to the mission."

There is no longer anything close to a 'shared' commitment at T. "Leadership" at T will drop you like a bad habit, without any regrets. And I'm using the term 'leadership' very loosely. T hasn't lead anything in quite some time. Perhaps we should start using the phrase "followership".

This post alone makes me not want to go to Dallas. Don’t want to be around these type of people. Just want to do my job and go home.

Sacrifice yourself for a company that would lay you off in a hot second. Sounds like you’re in an abusive relationship.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if someone in leadership posted this. Just shows how disconnected and clueless they actually are. It also highlights just how poorly run this place is for someone in a senior role to post that kind of drivel. If it weren’t for the hardworking and knowledgeable SMEs that never get promoted regardless of location, this place would implode. They keep the lights on and the gears turning despite the terrible leadership decisions.

Low quality AI slop post. If you used AskATT to create this, HR will track you down and fire you on code of business conduct breach.

I love posts like this because they reflect the myopic view of somebody either in a position of power through no skill or a shill.
AT&T is a global company. We do not just sell widgets that amazon ships, we provide physical service on site across the USA and the world. If anything a leadership with vision would have spread out the leadership strategically but instead we get this fresh load of horse nuggets.
I'm glad somebody in leadership or HR had the time to waste regurgitating this festering dog vomit but RTO exists only to reduce headcount at the expense of losing knowledge and skill. There was certainly fat to trim but this was an ignorant, short sighted and flat out d-mb way to do it.

If Dallas is full of bootlickers like you, it's the last place I'm considering.

Sacrifice for the company? You know they don't care about you or your family? In fact, they despise their employees. Listen to the townhalls. It's obvious They resent you and would dump you in a second. Sounds like your in a toxic relationship to me.

OP didn’t get the memo.
From the CEO, T is a market based culture, there is no loyalty from T per the CEO.

Get a life! Is this post supposed to be serious? “Commitment to the broader team”? Who? The people that will lay you off for no reason because they want to keep their 7 figure salary while workers are let go wondering how they will keep a roof over their family’s heads?

OP-
Don’t forget it’s a market based culture.. loyalty is DEAD. You will continue to feel the way you do until your number is called. You are just a number like everyone else. You will come to this realization sooner or later, but definitely when your number is called, the reality will sink in then!
