Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Reviews

I numbly smiled through my meeting. Mixed bag of ratings from eh to excellent so I guess that means average. I knew they would have to find something in this climate. Curious if same for any others?

@my

LOL, you realize you are going to be fired in 2026 don’t you? Even if you tattoo ‘I love Eliza’ on your face, it wont matter.

My manager in 2Lod (tech risk) said management had asked him to add that we need to be AI first. My protests that I created my own AI agent, etc. fell on deaf ears. Apparently our boss has instructed that anyone who cannot explain the ROI gained from AI will be given a below meets. My boss also said that there is a strong possibility that anyone not adopting AI fully or embracing the corporate message will be “hone before Q1”.

@hm My manager couldn't tell me what my overall score was. Apparently categories are weighted and they come up with something to determine raises and bonuses.

I doubt it matters anyway. If they want to keep you, that was probably decided back in October, and now they just massage the ratings to fit the quotas.

Im confused as well on what our "overall score" is, especially if ratings varied in each category.

@g0 they have it very specific on how the ratings impact each category and overall. Risk rating impacts the principal rating. If the person is achieved some or did not meet for risk, mgmt cannot mark the principles goal rating above achieved some. Overall is determined by a combination of results based and principles

@cf Somewhat team specific, but I don't know who was included in that stat. Could be the 100ish people under our Director. I guess we'll find out if they start getting rid of people in January.

I got ‘’met expectations’ for the risk and principles goals and ‘achieved some’ for the results based goals because “I’m not always confident when talking about things I don’t know the answer to”. No sh-t.
Not sure if the two meets will drag my overall score up or not, it wasn’t explained and I was too angry to ask. I don’t expect a bonus now, my goal for next year is to get a new job. Manchester Finance.

@dq at least India is getting the jobs. Haha. How many US workers are now being replaced by us? You all cry too much while we here getting by req after req open here for work. Our department isn’t letting people go? In fact we are being asked to open over 500 req here to take over operations from Massachusetts office and Delaware.

If you receive 500 wow points is $500 dollars. You would also receive $500 in stock. Anyone AS2 and under with achieved would have received them. The departments rate total was 25% below between for 4s and 5s. 5s would have been terminated last week and this week. 4s will be put on a development plan which you won’t be able to graduate from.

Woman in my group let it out that she got $500 worth of wow points because her rating was “significantly achieved”

It’s 10 percent below and an additional 15% meets some expectations. Some groups may have their own limits but those were the corporate guidelines.

@cd 50% of staff globally, US or team specific?

My manager said 50% of staff had to be rated below expectations (I didn't get a breakdown of percentage per category) and that a lot of people were going to be unhappy. No kidding.

Are you sure it was total BS or are you just uncoachable? How will you articulate that in future interviews?

So many people are afraid of reality. I don’t get it.

I quit the place with top metrics once I started getting company wide email blasts about leggos after the wove debacle. I was embarrassed for the author and leadership. That told me BNY Pershing had no idea what they were doing in terms of technology, and the tech “leaders” they had in place were a generation behind the competition.

If you got a mixed bag review, you were not consistent. I had top metrics and bounced when the stench of bullsh-t became overwhelming.

Take control of your own life instead of letting the current carry you.

Same with me. Manager said I met expectations across the board but then proceeded to tell me everything they thought I did wrong during the year (total BS by the way). Seems like setting me up to justify a BE next year. This place su-ks!
