Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Macys reject takeover, cushy scheduling , the favoring of support staff

Can anyone tell why belk copies all of Macys failing business strategies and is currently being run into the ground by Macys rejects, most who were fired from Macys?

The most recent strategy is support staff (some hired from Macys) (truck, H.R., merchandising) and the intentional cushy scheduling they get. Why do all support functions in stores STOP at 3pm when ALL support staff goes home ? Support staff for the most part work 7-3 and floor sales associates work a much more demanding schedule of closing and opening shifts sometimes back to back, however the are doing the support teams job as well as selling tasks.

Does anyone think support staff should be working a mix of hours, not just day shifts and most don’t work weekends.Support tasks needs to be completed in the evenings too.

To those of you making snarky comments about the support team: they are the reason you can casually hang out at the register, scrolling through your phone all day while managing app downloads and those outrageous interest fees. So how about you keep the name-calling to yourself? Don’t forget, you’re part of Belk too! What does that say about you? Not a whole lot! Honestly, in my opinion, you’re just as questionable as they are.

you know good and damn well that belk support assocaites are not highly paid. most of them can't even afford a car, or dental work or if they have a car it's a 1992 Caprice with no hub caps, they have to uber to work and some walk to work at my store. you sound like a real piece of work.

@d1 sweetie, do you work at a Belk? The customer is NEVER the priority. If they need help finding something- what are you told to do? Point and give directions. You are NOT allowed or supposed to WALK that customer to exactly what they need and HELP them make the purchase. So, yeah, Belks is NOT sales driven.

Do they sell things? Yes, obviously. It’s a retail store. But, you’re missing the point.

Go into a Dillards- if you want to see the contrast. Those sales people will literally help you and persuade you to buy, buy, buy.

The point of the original poster was that they have to do the support teams jobs lol. You can’t do that if you, as a sales associate, are FOCUSED on selling. Please understand what I’m saying.

And, also, in case you’re new here- Belks doesn’t care about sales! If you have to hang some clothes on a rack or set up fixtures in order to do so- you have time! Belks isn’t a “sales driven” department store. Step back, and remember, if your manager said to do it (which, they always give direction because there’s no autonomy in any role besides the store manager)- that’s your task. Not the support teams task.

Do not think, by any means, that the floor sales associates are doing the support teams tasks 🤣 until you have to stand on the dock in over 100 degree weather (the docks have no AC, mind you) and do physical/manual labor for 5-6 hours. Please do not speak.
