Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Rating 4 - rejoin ?

A friend of mine was let go in massive layoff 2-3 years ago. He wants to join back. He was given 4-3 rating. Pure politics. Can he rejoin ?

@ht in finance any new employment background verification will also check your rehire eligibility in previous company along withother details. Needless to say if it's negative it's a red flag.

@d0

Although I agree with you that OP could have Stockholm Syndrome or be a Masoch!st, in this economy he/she may have gotten laidoff from their job.

And so, even if Citi is a temporary lifeboat for them, at least it's a job until they find a real job.

As usual Citi is the haven and a last resort for the desperate job seekers which often means Not attracting or retaining the best workers because the best or better workers can land jobs elsewhere (Not Citi) and faster.

@dv what do you mean by outside hiring? blacklisted at citi and trying to get a job elsewhere doesn't count against you. There is no shared list between banks. Citi keeps citi records. WF for example does not have access to citi records. But you leave citi as a poor performer, I doubt they'll hire you back.

@dt Not sure why this is hard to grasp for some. Poor performer means you are tagged as uneligable for rehire. Blacklisted. Its not complicated.

@d9 that means this will affect outside hiring too? How would they keep track?

Does it mean who all have been given 4 and laid off are ineligible for rehire? Is it something unofficially written rule? Or for these cases it's written on the separation agreement?

@d9 ofcs they would keep record but not the rating i thought, what is the 'certain time'? we can't see our our 5 year older rating(at leastIcan'tsee mine).. in that scenario keeping track of someone's rating who is out (that means soeid wont be there in system) is weird.

@cx Yes they keep track of it. Not only for non-rehire, but for tenure if you rejoin in a certain time etc. Many people that re-join get the same soeid. Did you think they don't keep those records?

Why? Does your friend have Stockholm Syndrome? Going back to Citi is like setting your hair on fire and using a hammer to put it out.

@cp so do they keep track of it too (ex employee rated 4)?

if this is a legit post, the answer is likely no. If they were rated a 4 previously at Citi they're probably considered not re-hireable. Add to that Citi is laying off 20k people. Why would they hire a previous low performer? And why in the world if they went through the fun of being rated as needs improvement would they want to go back? Take the hint.
