If we all banded together and we could see the names, sees and ages you better believe there is clear evidence of racism in these layoffs.

I've not heard anyone mention racism with all these RIFs. I've known many who lost their jobs over the past 2 years or so, but that thought just seems ridiculous. It's all about $$ and putting more into the CEO/other higher up pockets.
@a1 Did you think they were going congratulate you on 39 years of service then say oh by the way we riffed you today and make a grand spectacle of it while they are shutting off your access?
@cz You are definitely correct.
But sadly this world (not just IT) runs on $$$
The top tier cares too less about emotions, empathy. Sorry SM :(
@d0 Work PTSD for sure
@a1 Yep, when you are Rif'd people may reach out once they find out but you quickly learn that most of those "relationships" at work were superficial. A rif is hard. There is a lot of anger and grief. It is a process and there is growth if you don't get consumed by the negative things about it.
@cy its just wrong for so many Americans to be loosing jobs to visa workers
@a1 That is just how riffs work. When I was riffed they told me not to tell anyone on my team. I did tell 2 former coworkers that I wanted to use as reference for job hunt do they weren’t surprised if they got calls about me. I get you did many years of service but in the middle of riffs they don’t want to tell anyone until they are done. It su-ks but that is just the way it is. Also why do you need the validation? Would it make getting riffed any better?
@c7 I could out-analyze you any day. You're probably one of the visa employees who is ruining what many of the rest of us worked and built.
Pound sand (literally)
it is about money. The longer you are here, the more money you make. They are laying off seasoned employees because they can hire them back for less money in a different role, hire and pay someone else less for a similar role, or make the employees that are left take on more work (from Rif'd employees) and pay them the same salary they were already getting.
I don’t know how “names, sees, and ages” would show evidence of racism, but I see in your post clear evidence that you aren’t exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.
@OP Racism and DEI ruined this company.
Don't expect a dam thing from your team. No matter how many years you worked there. I had in over 39 yrs, actually just shy of 40. Didn't so much as get a empty card. Yet the wise ones who jumped ship and took early retirement were given big send offs, gifts and words of praise and well wishes.
Thats coming from management down, and its wrong on so many levels.
