@2y0 You can find the information about previous EREs in the Slack channels of the works councils. There's one for each city. However, they said that the list won't be released
Hi, as the list of people will be released soon, I would like to ask if someone know how was the minimum package achieved in previous EREs.
If I join Oracle between one and two years ago, how much can I expect as compensation in this ERE?
Spain is a little IT market, so most of the people that will find another position will pass the bill to Big O sooner than later...I know a couple of sales reps that have already arranged something on a big partner with the goal to take certain customers to AWS IaaS
@tg While the tech job market in the US is poor and we are flooded with H1-B's, the situation in Spain is worse.
@rc I would prefer that no one be riffed.
The issue is: unlike in the US, the opportunity to find another high paying job in Spain is scarce
@rc Don't worry...they do small layoffs twice a year and a big layoff at least every two years in Spain...It's just that the US can't be bothered seeing something that doesn't concern it...Go play in another thread
About time others besides US employees got RIFd
@h5 tell me if you find out …I don’t think there is an easy way and I wonder who has the list if HR Spain , HR EMEA or probably both , so unless you have a VP in HR that is willing to leak it …
Is there any (unofficial) way to know in advance if you're part of the list? This wait is ki-ling me.
@a2 it does not matter if you are remote or in the office, it is based on your location for which you have contract and your division/team
@db they officially talk about investments to AI as a reason for lay offs (in our lay odd papers), but it cannot be the real reason because people from AI teams were also laid off ... itsjust all about money and getting rid of people that dont fit the purpose anymore...we have seen many people waiting for promotions or salary raises for many years that were promised but now fired...
@c8 negotiations won’t take place. The list was made months ago. In spring they started requiring to indentify positions to be cancelled. If managers didn’t decide, most probably someone right above them did it for them.
Affected people are usually informed by anyone in their line (manager, director, VP) during meetings that were originally planned 1:1 (but moved to adjust to HR schedule) or “business update” meetings.
What they do in other EU countries is making sure, they can not re-hire for positions that are listed for cuts.
@ea That's true
@e3 sure , but if there are volunteers or the WoC manages to reduce the number of affected ones , which is what normally happens at any ERE in Spain, some names can get luckily get out of the list , that is the main reason why those names are not shared or disclosed at all during the negotiation process
@dx sorry , dont see how this reply might be related at all with my questions in previous posts , is that even English? Which goverments ?
@dj Lists are done before layoffs are announced. People are already picked.
@dg Think of Oracle Ibérica as the Spanish version of Oracle with mostly people that sell the services in Spain. Oracle Global Services includes acquired companies like NetSuite and Cerner.
@dj While your governments force employers to jump through hoops to have layoffs, and they might mandate better severance packages, in the end they are only delaying the inevitable, unfortunately.
@cx agree, but then HR will need to check with VPs or SVP to decide who is affected ? Who is the one picking up names ? What happens if I work in Spain but my direct manager and VP are in a different country? Anyone from the WoC has this info an can explain the logic behind?
@dg financial entity , should be in your contract.
Can someone please explain what is the difference between Oracle Ibérica and Oracle Global Services?
I work remote and I don't go to the office, but I don't know which teams in Malaga are from OGS, I though all people assigned to this office were under Oracle Iberica.
@d7 I don't think that these layoffs are result of AI growing. The ones, we witness now in Oracle, are results of the promisess LE made to the investors. It's a simple costs cuts in order to secure cash for developing another DCs and show higher revenue than in the last Qs/FY
The Spanish government should take steps to protect Spanish jobs. Governments, at a minimum, should tax computer usage and storage to help pay to assist those laid off due to AI.
Buena suerte y ánimo a todos.
I assume US corporate gives a headcount number that each European entitiy should cut.
@c8 thanks for the detailed explanation, that means the negotiation process will finish mid December, right before the Christmast Break , amazing time of the year to be notifed.
Once lists are closed after negotiation volunteers etc , who is in charge of communicating to the employees ? HR ? Manager ? WoC ? Both ?
If I am on the list - would my manager and or my VP know ? Who has taken the decission for each team ? M6 or above?

Remark: Today the process officially starts.
- In 2 weeks negotiation starts.
- 4 weeks negotiation.
Then: in 6 weeks from now, conditions and people affected will be listed.
After that, scenarios:
- min of 1 month notice period, if not negotiated extended garden leave
Then, none from ERE will be layed off before close to end of January.

Regardless of your physical work location, you will be grouped under the fiscal address your salary is paid from.
@a2 Your contract states the office you belong to
@OP for Remote workers - Non Oracle location in Aria - How can you determine location? No remote workers affected ? I am close to Madrid but remote….
