Use AI, but use it intelligently! Use creative writing to flatter your boss and senior management. “Research the rising Oracle stock price!
Use of AI tools, monitored by AI, reporting to Management?
The blind leading the blind
This is the exact opposite of what I’ve heard. Lack of using them is factored into RIF lists.
we are literally required in dev to use AI tools as widely as possible. we got mandate for coding, code review and general integration in day-to-day tasks.
"80% of the workforce will be replace by AI at some point, whether you use AI or not. Who cares, we are all doomed! Time to sign up for knitting classes."
You're being too optimistic.
Knitting classes are all on line, driven by an agent.
"AI is garbage in terms of any reliability and these MFers live under the illusion that if you just cram enough data into them, they'll get smarter. "
AMEN!!!
Has anyone tried calling into the support hotline to see what happens? If it's possible to get a human? I'm not even talking about duty manager, just a Hub person. I know O unloaded a lot of the customer service/hub staff that were answering customer calls. They got rid of some managers that customers talked to who could help when they had problems with their tickets. I was wondering if it was worth doing.
@cw Emily Bender, good talk. Yes she's one-sided but that side needs to exist:

It's being pushed to train their AI. AI is garbage in terms of any reliability and these MFers live under the illusion that if you just cram enough data into them, they'll get smarter. It is the most simplistic form of a theory of intelligence, which they also don't have but if they can just get you to train them the right way the hundreds of billions they're blowing in it will surely work out...
It learns, it's thinking and now we're on to it'll get better... They are swimming in the marketing.

This is nonsense. They literally released Oracles internal GPT and are promoting it heavily.
This sounds unlikely. Within my org there is a big push to use AI and it is promoted.
I feel it’s the contrary. I have heard some FAANG companies handing badges to people for using AI to promote its usage. Considering our recent Oracle AI World , the founder himself said in his keynote - developers give the intent and AI generates the code , to enhance the employee experience.
Plus, considering the deal with OPEN AI, firing employees who use those models and AI would be quite opposite. Right now Oracle is striving to be an AI company.
You don't think, as a company betting a lot on AI, they would want workers that leverage those tools? Maybe its those that don't use AI that should be worried? These tools still need someone to use or supervise them (for now at least).
If you are using a company notebook you are being tracked, take a look at some of the agents running (i.e. Santa). From the sites you visit, to the times you login/logout, to the tools you use, zoom sessions you start, slack engagement, AI tool usage, code pushed, it's all compiled. All that information can easily build an assessment of your value (or lack of value) to the company.
Huh? So use ChatGPT instead and get fired for using unauthorized tools? In any case, better laid off than dismissed.
where this came from ?
