@gy No, you're wrong. Google it for fu--s sake. California does not have a % requirement. Federal does.

"Plant closure affecting any amount of employees. Layoff of 50 or more employees within a 30-day period regardless of % of workforce. "

@a9 False. There's a 50 employee count plus a % requirement both.

@cs "business decision" is just a generic excuse to avoid any legal actions. It comes down to multiple criteria including your performance (compare to others in your team) and how important your current works are to the organization. They will always tell you performance is not a factor but trust it IS one of the factors in them picking you over the others.

@cx How many quarterly misses will it take for the SBG leadership be held accountable? Up to, and including, the chief snake oil product officer.

@cx SBG will massively offshore to Romania.

SBG missed its estimate (1.95 bln vs 2.1 bln expected according to cnbc), and this is the second quarter in a row it has missed as a business unit

so no surprise there are cuts, Cisco's bet in security continues to be a giant MEH; it was supposed to offset networking hardware but is just acting as a drag

@cs. It is a business decision means you are fired.

@cr it is NOT 60 days but immediately effective.

SBG checking in. Also told it was a "business decision", as if there's another kind? It's not personal, yet we're not even attempting to act like we can help you find another role here

The 1 on 1 LR meetings give you 60 day notice of layoff. You remain an employee even though cisco will lock you out. The WARN notice comes closer to the actual layoff date so are not useful for predicting layoffs. They will tell you the size of a past layoff.

Before a layoff, the company will budget money for restructuring. If there is money left in or added to this bucket, layoffs will follow.

@cm not true, I have not talked with you this morning.

@cm I'm sorry to hear that. Hoping you bounce back strong!

I was just having a personal conversation with a colleague of mine, discussing how every quarter is constant worry. I'm not used to this type of environment, but it seems it's a corporate thing.

Trusting your manager doesn’t get you far. Cisco shows little empathy for burnout, and management rarely offers help when you need clarification. Everything feels uncertain, and it’s ultimately a numbers game — if your skills not needed in the FY26 plan, you’re out.

@aw California, Boston and Seattle following similar WARN threshold, that is layoff >50, TX and RTP just follow the Federal WARN, where ever it is not easy play stealth layoff, Cisco is a company can layoff over 7K one time, transparent is much more better and safe than take risk get into legal trouble.

@an Why you have meeting so early in the morning? 0730? Are you in California? Normally meeting here start after 10, and most of meeting is after lunch. If you really have a 1-1 so early, that must be a big thing.

@a9 50 or more at a site is for California. 33% is for Federal WARN.

Unexpected stealth layoff!
Silent layoffs are roles deemed redundant or low priority!

Cant they just file it tomorrow? (If they need it). Also i think it’s 500 employees

@a5 this is incorrect. It’s 50 or more employees at a site. Not a percentage.

@a3 You have no idea how that works. WARN is only necessary if a certain percentage of your workforce is impacted.

LR Troll, Cisco cannot do silent layoff, have to file WARN notice to EDD in your state, it is pretty to see how is going of the layoff, restructuring.
