Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Grow a backbone

I read a lot of posts on here about MW and senior management and middle management and culture and Chevron is the devil.
If you feel so strongly about it, either tell them directly or leave. If you do nothing you're honestly worse than you think they are. Have some integrity and hold yourself accountable to your moral and intellectual convictions. Maybe this is the sign you've been waiting for to say standing up for what you believe in takes guts and is risky.. so even though it's scary, you should quit.

If only I had a backbone. My manager has not demonstrated a backbone, and since leading by example with a backbone is only lip service, my backbone has also atrophied. I will just follow leadership and be an unscrupulous carpetbagger/yes-man to save my own BS.

I left. No strategy other than incremental investment in onshore US wells. Leaving great employees in overseas business units with divestments or decisions not to renew leases. No movement in stock price since covid except for war induced despite BILLIONS in buy backs and dividend increases. There is life outside.

We received the survey results yesterday and it looks like a lot of people expressed the negative feedback you are asking for. Our team leaders received very scores and the ironic part was out TL said, “well people scored these results how they feel on the day they take the survey”, WTF….!

"hold yourself accountable to your moral and intellectual convictions."

And you know what those are, for each and every employee? Buh Gawd, the boot polish has eroded whatever brain you started with.

Thanks so much for your contribution but I'll pass. Instead, I'll keep on racking up paychecks, doing very little work, and wasting Chevron's resources. It's working well so far and I've got no reason to change.

If it makes you all cranky too, well that's icing on the cake!

Agree 100% Chevron can’t find oil…it can purchase assets…if your not happy leave…and if you go to a company that finds oil…beware Chevron has you as a potential purchase. In 3 years you will be laughing…at what becomes of CVX
