Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Has this been confirmed?

7% to 9% headcount reduction expected to be announced August 12, 2026.

Is this correct?

I see people clutching at straws! The stack ranking is just one data point- it goes to VP and above that decide what to do with it. The SVPs can ignore it completely, they could decide to concentrate the entire LR impact in one team, or they can peanut butter across all of their VPs, or they can send budget to their peers to protect certain projects, just to list a few options. As far as Directors go, in most BUs they are not even consulted before deciding “the list” so let’s stop this BS about pending LRs. Nobody here knows with certainty and the people that do are unlikely to be in this space.

I just asked my dog, he barked 3 times. Which probably means 30%. However my cat vehemently disagrees and hissed back at my dog, claiming it to be 8%.

Team meeting, manager announced layoffs will happen

Wrong board. This is not META's but Cisco's board.

@cs not true. The LR around a year ago.. I don't remember what cycle or the exact date.. FLMs in my BU had to stack rank people who were candidates for the LR.

@ch This is spot on. Also in the last several round of major LRs.. neither your FLM nor your Director knew who was on the list until it was handed to them. At such time it was also nonnegotiable. If some mgr or dir is warning you... it's also likely cr-p.

All LR “predictions” mentioned in this forum over the past 12 months have been fake. Unless someone is at the SVP and above level (in which case, I doubt they would be here) it’s literally impossible to know what hair cut percentage is targeted simply because each SVP has the full freedom to consider a range of options to cut Opex and they all don’t have to do it the same way. The next time someone says X % across the company, it’s fake simply because they could not possibly have that insight.

Next day after the earning is when it is happening. 12-20% reduction, depending on the org.
