Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Warning: You’re Being Watched!

A good friend of mine who has inside knowledge shared with me that your company is now 100% monitored.

It's a contracted service, and they are to monitor everything. The threshold for flagging and reporting is at the lowest bar. The service started in October and the service continues to March 2026.

I'm not sure why the sudden mistrust, but it's disturbing to be working under a microscope.

What is the purpose of this?

My source said that I should share with my trusted coworkers, but I don't even know who I can trust anymore.

I did some contract IT work for a law firm. They had me install spyware on all of their employee's work computers. It included a key logger and did a screen capture every 5 seconds. Of course they are spying on you and there is no legal expectation of privacy on your work-issued devices.

That's just the CCCP. Don't look at me, I didn't hire the traitor.

HR is desperately digging deep to find opportunities to terminate and layoff people to meet targets.

Just don't be stupid and get terminated with cause, as you won't get a golden layoff package.

The chief we-pons are surprise, and fear.

Wait, no it is Surprise, fear, and ruthless efficiency!

That's not quite it. It is Surprise, Fear, Ruthless efficiency, and an almost fanatical devotion to paranoia.

The complete list is Surprise, Fear, Ruthless efficiency, an almost fanatical devotion to paranoia, Machine G-ns (to enforce Moores Law).

Wait, what about the comfy chairs?

Oh yes, do include the comfy chairs, plus the Intel blue man uniforms..

@d0 100% correct!

Now they've up the bar and are using this data in an attempt to determine how productive each employee is.

IT and HR is trying to justify their existence.

@aj
Well, if someone is d-mb enough to leave their laptop on at home, then they get what is coming. Intel is, no doubt, snooping local traffic for anything that can hurt them. Just remember, they can remotely turn them on if not completely powered off.

@cg There is something about hearing the sound of quarters dropping into a bin that I find really distracting when trying to focus on something in my cube.

The heavy breathing also kind of creeps me out.

Trust no one. <-period

Monitoring employees was a thing back when I was a sys admin 25-years ago, the practice has only gotten more intrusive.

The best approach is to not use company resources for anything other than work, and don't use your personal devices for work.

All companies can watch what you do while on site or using company devices. Everyone signed this waiver to allow Intel eyes into such regions of their life. If Intel reaches beyond that without some strong reason to justify, it’s just wrong and probably illegal.

Paranoia can significantly affect relationships and daily functioning. Individuals may struggle to trust others, leading to isolation and difficulties in forming close connections.

Intel is manufacturing for US military. All is being monitored.

All employees working on US government project have been through background check, before they are allowed to work. Their activity outside work and even their families are monitored, such as travel and work locations.

Not only the employees in Intel, but also their family members are being monitored. Intel is mainly manufacturing for US government, it is required that the employee must be US citizen. If any of their family members travel outside US, they will be monitored.

Out of curiosity, exactly what does 100% monitored mean? 100% at work is assumed, or at least I would assume it. Are we talking about things beyond that?
