It’s unlikely you can be ‘terminated’ with a Meets rating. You could be displaced in a broader efficiency play.
Termination - no severance
Displaced - severance
So if you just got an IM be ready for termination.

Yes, but at least it (hopefully) means you’ll get severance when they do. Lower than meets they may just fire you and you’re out on your a-s with nothing.
@cc the process for displacement is not a one day thing. It starts at least a couple weeks out. And depending on the level of manager, they are told who, not choosing. The higher level managers give HR the parameters to feed into the selector and if you don't make the cut based on those parameters you are selected.
Of course you can
@ec If you don’t have any facts don’t weigh in. There are people that will be impacted but i guess everyone will need to wait for their number to be up to get their questions answered.. It su-ks but everything else is guessing and could make you unnecessarily stress.
The bright side. No more performance reviews with a ranking system
@e9 Yes, I've known multiple "high-performers" who were displaced. No one is safe.
I doubt they layoff with severance anymore. Since labor laws are not followed anywhere, they can do anything. Government is busy on many things in the world affairs.
@OP
Yes.
@cc is me
I will add this. It has FLOORED me to see some of the people who were cut. There was a woman, I think had been around like 20-22 years, who knew EVERYTHING. Never acted like a know-it-all but people in every level of our process turned to her for opinion, facts and history. Even grammar to reduce odds of kick-backs or questions.
When they cut her it told me they had zero plans to keep control management as an important part of operations.
p.s. my boss did give me a (full) raise, which was very cool (notice date was Dec. 10)
Last year there was a post that someone got exceeds, with a nice pay raise, then were let go two weeks later. Nothing insulates you.
Got my first undeserved IM in three decades. Hopefully this has finally lit the fuse for me, I can't wait to get away from this toxic, unethical, dump.
To a degree your review has nothing to do with being laid-off.
I was given notice at 10:00 on a Tuesday. About 12:30 the day before I messaged 2 of my coworkers that I felt something was up and I was going to be cut. It was based entirely on an obvious change in how my boss was interacting with and reacting to me. One of the 2 coworkers replied they felt exactly the same way.
Well, next day we were both cut. I have zero doubt our boss was told Noon the day prior that he had to cut 2 people. My final review had not yet been shared with me but it had a date stamp of the week prior to my cut date. It was an excellent review. All meets, but meets with some fluff on them.
Yes, if you s_ck you are more likely to be cut.
Answer is yes but you are kind of safe. They will fire all IM/NI first, if they still can't meet budget cut target then they will start to layoff meets. They don't like layoff, they prefer fire.
Award for d-mbest question
Yes, whether in India or the US. If they decide to swing the axe, no one is safe.
Of course!
It depends, if you got meets and your boss is indian, you are safe. If you got non meets, and your boss is Indian, you are fired. Make sense?
yes, if you are not meet, you will be fired.
Yes, I got a meets and then laid off days later.
Yep! Performance has nothing to do with layoffs.
Yep. You can get any rating and get laid off.
