Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Will Outsourcing so Heavily Lead to Increase in Data Breaches and Identity Theft From Foreign Entities of American Federal Medicare Data???

I believe this is a major concern perhaps being overlooked.

I wonder if the American public or even our government realize how vulnerable transferring sensitive american federal health data across the world globe to another country in the far east.

Please discuss. Maybe not an issue but personally it makes me a little concerned.

@mf This is America. It is the job of every country to take care of, watch out for, its own citizens first.

And any corporation that fails to do so, it is the people’s job to ensure that is made public, shame them, and do everything they can to ruin the reputation of that corporation for not taking care of their own country’s citizen FIRST.

This is not a race thing nor even a wage thing. This is about each country taking care of their own. I and every American citizen on here would be just as disgusted if it were Canadians or Germans or Australians taking jobs away from US American citizens.

As someone who served in the military during wartime, so that all Americans, including the Humana C-Suite Executives, could live free and safe, I am especially disgusted and disappointed as to what is taking place of Americans being canned and replaced with workers that are not US American citizens.

@ke Do you realize what $1.09 an hour means to them? Here, people sell, steal, and exploit data for millions. Meanwhile, those earning barely over a dollar an hour are the ones protecting our data — because it’s their career, their livelihood, and how they feed their families. They understand the value of every dollar. A single dollar might not mean much here, but over there, it can mean three meals. Unfortunately, some people forget how privileged they are and start feeling entitled.

This is simple. The US must outlaw all off shoring of anything financial or health data related to avoid HIPAA and financial breeches. People living outside of the US and working for 1.09/hr have no incentive to protect US citizens data. Folks, most people living in India and the Philippines simply do not like us!

@br none of the posters I assure you work in the data security.. The reality is very different for anyone in the cyber security world.. that is not easily swayed by the media or who is in the current administration.. regardless, the cyber cell will continue to protect the national interest.. if you are super concerned , go talk to someone in the ISO org,.

@cm I honestly do not say this to be mean. I really have good intentions on what I am about to say.

Although, the posts you write have much (but not all) truth in them, you say them as though you think that is is and should be the norm and that there is no reason for anyone to be ashamed.

I think at this time in your life perhaps you are stuck in a cycle of what some might term “intellectualism.”

But there is so much more to life than just recognizing materialism and even worse if you think that is okay.

We are wonderfully made creatures and are meant to have compassion and empathy for one another. And we all should be striving to be better versions of what we are.

We should be seeking to grow past the love of self and the love of all this world can offer us. There has to be a better side to is that loves beyond ourselves and beyond all those “things.”

My apologies if this in any way came across condescending. I sincerely am trying to speak to you like I would say my brother or best friend.

Anyway, take care. As an aside, I can tell you are a very smart person that writes and explains subject matter really well.

As old saying goes …
“Greed is good” — but only when it’s everyone’s greed.
• CEO greed → innovation
• Worker greed → bargaining power
• Investor greed → capital allocation
• Consumer greed → lower prices
When only one side is allowed to be greedy?
That’s not capitalism.That’s extraction.

@cd Oh, I know that. I was making a point as to the grossness as to scale of their salaries compared to ours.

I doubt most realize just how large their salaries are. We are not talking three times or even ten times a normal person’s salary. Try talking more like approximately 150+ times more. Last CEO was bringing down 17 million. Not sure about current one but probably not too far behind. I don’t know any person that outworks me 150 times.

@ca
No CEO will ever entertain the idea of reducing their Pay, so poor people could stay on their job.

@c8 Also, certain professional fields are and will always be meant to have a heavily weighted human aspect.

Yes, true, most everything “can” be automated in place of a human element. But soon, those cheering AI will find out persons are not interested in watching movies created solely with AI without any actors or even producers, directors, and writers. And people will not want to buy music created without the human artist.

Same goes for healthcare. People want and need the human touch, the human element. They need to know someone cares, is listening, and understands their specific situation.

And that they are not just a cookie cutter situation that either AI is handling or someone in the far east that barely speaks english and is so far removed that apathy is as easy as breathing.

I understand from a financial aspect why C-suite Executives are doing this. But it will fail! It will fail. I will say it yet again, it WILL fail.

You know, if C-Suite were to simply reduce their salaries to something more realistic like maybe even just a half a million a year, if each one of the C-Suite Executives at Humana were to do that, I bet the savings would cover all persons being laid off this year and maybe the last three years. Think about that.

@c8 Watch, eventually it will come crumbling down. Remember the Tower of Babel and the arrogance mankind.

Once those systems breakdown, data breaches, outages, or simply not every aspect or scaling for change thought out, or just plain nefarious actors, etc….occur and there are no human experts around except for some offshore persons that barely know what to do, THEN, THEN, maybe some light bulbs in C-Suite Executive’s heads will go off.

@OP
2025–26 will be remembered as the years when Wall Street soared while Main Street sank. Layoffs are spreading even as corporate profits and stock prices hit record highs. AI and automation are delivering “efficiency” for shareholders but pink slips for employees. Central banks hint at rate cuts, inflating assets again while wages stall and debt piles up.

The illusion of prosperity will glow on trading screens, but behind it lies a quiet recession of working lives. The system isn’t broken — it’s working exactly as designed: protect capital, pressure labor, and call it progress.

American companies have data breaches ALL of the time. Most companies are global. When did yall become so misinformed? The success of America and Multiculturalism is what made us a world super power. We have the best and brightest from ALL OVER THE WORLD.

@aq Hypothetical question for you, if you are an Indian working in this country, that is.

If we ever had to go to war with India and had a draft, would you join the American military and be willing to go to war against your past countrymen?

I guess what I am asking, is it your goal to completely assimilate to your new country, America?

@aq Cultural foods and cultural religion and values are very two distinct things and should not be compared.

I recently watched a movie titled “Monkey Man.” And towards the start of that movie the MC announcer of a boxing match had said something to the effect of “we are all Hindus and Muslims here. And who knows there might even be a sneaky Christian hiding in the shadows.” Then, when that last part about Christians was said, the entire crowd booed!

Tells me a lot!

The U.S. has always moved back and forth between these two models assimilation and cultural pluralism.
• In the early 19th and 20th century, assimilation was emphasized (“learn English, become American”).
• In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, cultural pluralism gained prominence (“celebrate diversity”).
• Today, both coexist — people are expected to uphold core civic values (rule of law, democracy, equal rights), but are also free to express distinct cultural identities.
Examples look at our food culture - Italian , Chinese, Mexican, Indian, Middle eastern, Korean.

I think people often make the mistake between outright racism and folks that know enough about history that multiculturalism does not work.

Multiracial does work when everyone accepts the predominant culture of the country they live in.

Multiculturalism does NOT work because you cannot serve two masters. Either you will hate the one or the other.

It is putting people in the same room that utterly hate the other’s way of life and optimistically hoping for a good outcome. Not to mention the nefarious person’s in sheep’s clothing trying to blend in, pretending they have the herd’s best interest in mind but do not.

There are many historical books written as to the attempts and failures of multiculturalism.

Such “pious” optimism will cause a National Security risk to this country. But if corporation’s profits are more important, well, I guess I do not see much hope for this country. It is really sad.

@OP It won’t take long for us to find out. Probably a major data breach or identity theft resulting from Health Insurance companies will be on news sometime in 2026. It won’t take long and is bound to happen, guaranteed.
