Driving into the office during snowstorms

Does anyone go to the office during snow storms (when schools are closed) with this RTO mandate or do you just WFH and take the % ding?

@OP Before all this remote work for the vast majority, we were in the office 5 days a week. Only the blue strip badge folks were afforded the opportunity to WFH when there was significant snow fall. The green strip contract employees had to be in the office if they wanted to make money for the day of work. I drove 2hr to and 2.5hrs home on many snow days and got to work the next day too. Go to work, do your job. If you don't want to drive then stay home. Simple.

@jf Working at Ford feels like a pipeline to the boonies while everyone else in tech actually gets to live near other ambitious people off their salary while saving a lump sum. It’s honestly wild that Ford expects Gen Z talent to live like they’re exiled to the middle of nowhere on dirt-cheap pay with relevant and serious experience, while friends at other tech companies can afford lively cities and a decent quality of life from day one. The more you give under false pretenses, the longer you stay chasing "respect" through fairness, and the harder it becomes to leave due to sunk cost and the belief that things eventually get honored. It starts to feel less like a career and more like a financial holding pattern where "proving yourself" is used to keep people quiet through humiliation. Is this experience specific to certain Gen Z talent, or is it systemic? Maybe not all Gen Z talent, and just some

I think you all should look at this as an opportunity to develop more and better features that can delight the customers during extended time commuting as has been recent. Even better if subscription based. That is one of the pillars to generating revenue in the mobility space in today's world.

@OP Go in. Look at the bright side of bad weather if you drive an eV. There should be plenty of charging stations available at work with fewer coming in,if your battery isn't dead from the cold already. See, having ICE in freezing temps is good for your health! ;

Seems all the PL's have a different policy. Typical of this place. There should be a company wide policy...school closing is WFH and counts as a badge swipe.

The danger of coming in during a storm or cr-p roads is high for most and management needs to recognize it.

Yes you have to get your 4 badge swipes per week, and that's the minimum. That comes from the top and HR accommodation team. The data is being tracked and compiled regularly for the next company-wide email notifications of compliance. Go ahead and test the system if you don't believe the seriousness of non-compliance. You'll find out.

Our organization we WFH if schools are closed with no ding for badges. There are some that do not have that policy which it should be in my opinion.
