Does anyone go to the office during snow storms (when schools are closed) with this RTO mandate or do you just WFH and take the % ding?

OMG, get a life, did the kid have a slow Friday night?
Not going to fib here, the cold is brutal. I feel arthritis starting in my middle finger, but it might just be all the anti ICE protestors giving it a workout.
@wf man up get in the office
@OP Before all this remote work for the vast majority, we were in the office 5 days a week. Only the blue strip badge folks were afforded the opportunity to WFH when there was significant snow fall. The green strip contract employees had to be in the office if they wanted to make money for the day of work. I drove 2hr to and 2.5hrs home on many snow days and got to work the next day too. Go to work, do your job. If you don't want to drive then stay home. Simple.
@q5 💯
@jf Working at Ford feels like a pipeline to the boonies while everyone else in tech actually gets to live near other ambitious people off their salary while saving a lump sum. It’s honestly wild that Ford expects Gen Z talent to live like they’re exiled to the middle of nowhere on dirt-cheap pay with relevant and serious experience, while friends at other tech companies can afford lively cities and a decent quality of life from day one. The more you give under false pretenses, the longer you stay chasing "respect" through fairness, and the harder it becomes to leave due to sunk cost and the belief that things eventually get honored. It starts to feel less like a career and more like a financial holding pattern where "proving yourself" is used to keep people quiet through humiliation. Is this experience specific to certain Gen Z talent, or is it systemic? Maybe not all Gen Z talent, and just some
We have a really good chief engineer, one of the best I've had. Told us to stay home on Monday.
I think you all should look at this as an opportunity to develop more and better features that can delight the customers during extended time commuting as has been recent. Even better if subscription based. That is one of the pillars to generating revenue in the mobility space in today's world.
How do you think your Mom's felt driving in all the snow when you demanded she go out to get you a batch of Hot Pockets so you Gamers and Influencers wouldn't have to be interrupted in gaming or posting on your social media accounts all day.
Sounds like a lot of Gen Z complainers in this thread who are notable about whining about any minor thing in life and most likely live in their Mom’s basement or garage.
Let’s look at this quantifiably. What is the risk/reward ratio ?
@fk My bad bro. Ty.
@fc Wrong page bro.
@f4 I heard MTB got a skynet for slackers. Hopefully it doesn't "incorrectly" identify leadership
@f7 Damn bro, you get him soldier
@f4 There are quite a few of these folks that seem to have developed an allergy to collaboration, sad really.
@d6 You're a pa--y for not driving to work because of a little snow.
You admit you don’t ever collaborate working in the office. Not likely you do when you slack oops work from home either. What value are you to Ford?
Sounds like you are overdue being handed a Performance Improvement Plan.
@d9 Why are you not currently in Mexico?
@d5 how exactly do you expect me to collaborate in office when everyone I work with is in Mexico or overseas?
You are stupid if you drive to work in this horrible weather.
@cm It is not accurate to assume that the rest of us share the same performance issue as you. Your inability to collaborate constructively does not necessarily reflect the capabilities of the rest of us.
I love how they make its employees feel like we need to jeopardize our safety for a badge swipe, as if any of us actually collaborate in office.
@OP Go in. Look at the bright side of bad weather if you drive an eV. There should be plenty of charging stations available at work with fewer coming in,if your battery isn't dead from the cold already. See, having ICE in freezing temps is good for your health! ;
We’ll be making up the snow days after they implement 5-day RTO.
Seems all the PL's have a different policy. Typical of this place. There should be a company wide policy...school closing is WFH and counts as a badge swipe.
The danger of coming in during a storm or cr-p roads is high for most and management needs to recognize it.
@c7 Extreme weather is a valid reason not to go in. Every employee I know works from home on those days and it doesn't count against you.
Yes you have to get your 4 badge swipes per week, and that's the minimum. That comes from the top and HR accommodation team. The data is being tracked and compiled regularly for the next company-wide email notifications of compliance. Go ahead and test the system if you don't believe the seriousness of non-compliance. You'll find out.
Everyone was driving in to the office pre-pandemic, so....
Depends on your LL6. If he lives close to the office and has a 4WD/AWD, expect to come in.
@ah I’m drinking and will leave it up to my hangover to decide.
I'm going to drive in and accidentally crash into a glass wall on the hub. Rules are rules, rto means rto, no excuses we must collaborate in person and serve the party leaders comrades.
The HR policy is vague and basically says it’s up to you and your PL.
Our organization we WFH if schools are closed with no ding for badges. There are some that do not have that policy which it should be in my opinion.
