Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

@cd
Isn't A.B. from the Bird era ? After watching an exceedingly cringey 'fireside chat' video with those two I realized she was completely out of her depth.

@c9 Ultimately, it is tragic—especially given how widely her poor management is discussed by her directs.

Alas, they did not reach their current position by prioritizing people, and there is no reason to expect that to change now.

@c7 Thanks for the clarification. Its funny though how Ali and others are saying how much they care about people...such pretentious people, they only care about themselves and perhaps their cronies. They don't seem to have an iota of shame left, developed thick buffalo skin.

Not exactly, but they are related. The stock buyback is being funded from Pearson’s existing cash reserves.

The mass layoffs are intended to artificially support profit and growth figures after performance has deteriorated under the current leadership.

Those of us who were here during the Fallon era have seen this pattern before, and we have not yet reached the stage of profit warnings.

Conditions are likely to continue worsening until there is a change in CEO or the company is acquired by private equity, particularly given the current depressed valuation.
