Anyone else ever receive a request for feedback about their Manager/Director from the VP of the chain of command? I received a request but no one else on my team received one. Wondering if this is a screening for them or for me ahead of the rumored January layoffs?

Yes. Last year my VP finally asked me for feedback on my insensitive, low EQ, corporate climber, narcissistic, micromanaging manager. I used AI to help me with better wording but made my point. With all the RIFFS I figured it could not hurt to share. At review time that manager told me that I was lucky because the VP came to them directly and gave me a much higher bonus. The manager wasn't sure why. I think it was because I gave feedback on the manager and the VP appreciated the truth as the next round of RIFFS that manager was cut. Don't miss speaking your truth if you have this opportunity. Too many people don't share critical feedback to VPs. It can make a difference.
Go to the always listening survey page on sparq and use names don’t wait for the yearly survey. Blast them with stuff everyday in this one question survey for these empathy lacking VPs who talk a good talk with big corporate words but can’t back it up. ECS is the absolute worst with vial people that non stop gossip about each other and only have use to speak with you when the need something “asap” or it benefits them. Horrendous culture over there.
I actually think it’s weird that I DIDN’T get a request to provide feedback for my manager (who reports to VP). My manager is terrible and I want to share!
I received one for my boss, whose boss is our VP. I answered honestly so we’ll see what happens - to either of us! I chalked it up to a simple EOY feedback request…
I would say it is common and a sign of good leadership.
@c7 skip level meetings are super common. Like I have had them for years so idk why anyone of you are acting like they are weird.
You mentioned skip level meetings. Are skip level meetings a test to see who in those meetings they’re gonna layoff or fire?
They’re looking for feedback to RIF you or your manager. Most likely your manager IMO. Why not just have skip levels. Then you don’t have to put it in writing or maybe it’s better. It’s sneaky and tricky at the same time. Will you look bad or will they.
I have received these requests from VP for my then immediate manager who was let go soon afterwards.
I got something similar for my 2nd line manager. He was RIFed in the next round after the feedback.
Its for common review if the request is from my gps.
Its a sign for your layoff. I got something similar and was laid off after. Its to boost your morale but also an indication
