Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

At T, culture eats strategy for breakfast

That's why everything we do fails spectacularly. It's that simple.

@c3 100% and while they’re at, execs can attribute those cost savings to “AI” and look like geniuses on the books!

Employees are just cattle on the farm, and sometimes, the farmer needs to put down a couple cattle so they can pay themselves 30 mil a year…

It’s a job. That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. Once you quit caring about what they say at the top, the better you’ll feel. As for the “culture,” that’s simply a buzz word. The “culture” here is treat the workers as poorly as possible and hope they quit. Sadly there are so many people here that are waiting to retire (many should have already) that will accept anything just to get a couple more years. Some just waiting on severance to punch out. It’s really sad. This place is already rotten to the core.

Most of the strategy to attempt to "right the ship" is not being communicated honestly to the worker bees though it is obvious what it is -- turn AT&T into a commodity and reduce the head count (expense) to around 100K employees.

The days of being lazy and getting as long gone. Good to get rid of that culture.

Surprisingly, “because I said so” doesn’t inspire confidence or innovation.

What culture? 567/600 culture?

Image and ego destroy everything. There is no culture, there is no strategy. The overwhelming want to give the impression we have both of those things takes precedence over doing any of the work it would take to have either.

Because it requires a top down change, we will continue to have pep rallies celebrating everything the company pretends to have while it rots from the inside.
