to my desk and identified herself as Oracle HR. She handed me a 4-page document. HR women told me it was a layoff notice she was handing me and said it is also referred to as a warn, whatever that means.

@c2 If they try to PIP you your performance review better be able to demonstrate that you had performance issues. I would request a copy of every performance review. They have to provide them to you by law.
@c2 actually you do get unemployment if you are fired. You don't get unemployment if you quit.
@b8 Agreed, having an HR drone actually tell you in person during a mass layoff is something the ended with horse and buggy. They don't even do a zoom call. SOP is having a manager contact you (typically via zoom) and read the bad news from a script.
mass layoffs happen over zoom. If in-person the 2nd-line or his manager should be there unless they were let go. Not a random guy. This discussion seems cr-p
Happened to my wife too. HR said either a Involuntary Layoff or Performance Improvement Plan. Wife chose the layoff because everyone knows a performance improvement plan is actually a prelude to a firing. You don’t get unemployment benefits if Oracle fires you.
@b4 How is that even possible? ORCL HR actually came to see you in person? That guy is not a former employee.
His job must be so relaxed that wasting time here counts as being productive. Maybe he always wanted to work for a top-tier tech company like Oracle but never got the chance. Or maybe he’s some kind of junior/intern internet police, stuck in front of a computer all day, bored out of his mind. Out of jealousy, he probably sees this as his moment for revenge. He’s probably thinking, Why can you guys work for Oracle while he's stuck working for the government? That’s not fair :0):0):0):0):0)
Seems Fake, this OP should be a previously layoffed person coming here to post made up stories and spread animosity.

What is a worn?
Hey it’s me HR, sorry I had to do this on a Friday. Hope you have a good weekend!
It must be really lonely to reach a point in your life where you post fake layoff stories online. Things get better - hope your life turns around for the better soon.
