Even if you’re one of the best, even if you know this place inside out, you’re not safe. These layoffs aren’t about performance. It’s just about saving money, and that means cutting the higher earners, even if they’re the ones keeping things running. I’m not trying to freak anyone out, I just don’t want people blindsided thinking hard work and experience still count. They don’t anymore.

@c2 yep, I was one of those people this year. Hard working, loyal, experienced, over 15+ years with the company. Gone… it’s been a tough year for layoffs in PD&D.
@OP "It's just about saving money". Totally. Speaking of making money, it's so disheartening to realize that companies don't really care much about their individual contributors. I personally know of PDD people who were let go (specifically hard-working designers with 10+ years of experience) who have made the company millions of dollars; only to be sacrificed. Retail is a tricky industry with its ebbs and flows. I wouldn't ever go back into this industry once I am gone.
Sadly, this is 100% true.
