Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Another round in 18-24 months - never ending!!!!!!!

Heard this from the HR slaves and also people close to functional leadership - there is another round coming within 18-24 months to further reduce “fat” - wow. Better luck next time jumping off this sinking ship of utter gloom and doom. The leadership and managers remaining are all nepo lovers and love the brown nosing incompetent “friends”. More with less. Woohoo!

18-24 months seems a bit premature. You have to give ENGINE and Hess infusion a year or two to see how they do, after that another layoff event is likely. Since layoffs take 12-18 months to orchestrate, I would predict something more in the 3-4 year range.

If it's 18 months then given how long it takes them to execute they'll be announcing around Nov.

That will be perfect timing. Bring it on.

What I heard is that March and July 2026 are the exit times for certain folks being selected now. That is not the same thing as another selection event

@a4 I thought so, but then I realized I could quit, even without severance. If you have the means, I recommend it.

@b6+1 20 more years? The company (if it still exists) in 2045 will look nothing like it does in 2025 (just as Chevron 2025 looks nothing like Chevron 2005), so your chances of hanging around that long are near nil. Better to have a Plan B to put in place in the next ten years, and save every nickel you can for the kids' education. Compound interest (and the stock market) will be your savior for that goal.

Do self-assessment and improve your competency and performance. That is directly in your control and makes you marketable. Layoffs are not your control, stop being fearful. If you are great at what you do and what you do is necessary, job owners will line up for you. This site is for good intel to navigate during layoffs, not spread fear. Stay calm, work on at least one thing you can control,

@c0 I remember a post said they will cap severance to 6 months salary starting 2026. Not sure if it is true.

@bz Uh, I believe the Soylent Corporation does. I figure it's not far from the Human Energy campaign. Be afraid.

This is not surprising. I don't think they will do 5 years cycle. It's agile now with shorter sprints of 2 years. They are ramping up hiring in all LCGs.

No way they wait that long - will be next year.

Sounds great! Two years of quiet quitting on the gravy train then a fat EOI out the door

@bs I don’t think there exist a company that invest in people anymore.

@b6 Unfortunately, 2045 is a long way off. Think carefully if you’re investing the next 20 years in a company that has already stated they’re moving jobs offshore. You could be using the time to build cred in a company willing to invest in your career For those who have a couple more years it’s doable to hang on.

@b5 if I can make it to end of 2045 I’m good. Just need to get the kids through high school and 2 years of college

If I can make it to the end of 2027 I will be happy. It gives me two years to take training courses and get ready for the next layoff. Thanks Chevron for showing your cards before the game is over!

That makes it end of 2027 and the IT business plan that is published on Sharepoint only goes to the end of 2027, so I agree 2027 is the next layoff / reorg. That gives them time to get Engine ramped up and complete the transitions.

@am you think this is a whole company kind of cut or just certain areas within the company like IT, Finance, HR, etc?

Well, regardless if it is speculation or not, it was always going to be a matter of when, not if given the path they've carved out, and the sooner the better because they have to show ENGINE as stood up as they continue ramping up staffing. So the 18-24 month time period is very likely true.
