With over two and a half decades of professional experience, I find it entertaining when managers try to convince seasoned workers that their behavior is acceptable and what it takes to succeed in the workplace. The only people they are fooling are fresh out of high school or college.
A lot of them act like angry children and are more concerned with trivial ridicule toward their reports instead of trying to help them grow.
At times, I wonder if they are so hostile because they have pent up anxiety. I think on some level they know they are not qualified to be leading people, and that if they leave the halls of this company, they will not last as long at other shops that care about results rather than PowerPoint presentations.
As a fellow veteran, I wholeheartedly agree with observations.
