@nr so you’re going to make your coworkers suffer with your absurd and childish behavior to “show upper management who is boss”? …..🙄

@vw so true. I’ve seen it all being in the workforce for 30 years. I can usually predict things coming down the pike but a newbie manager will try and tell me otherwise. Don’t pi-s on my keg and tell me it’s raining!

@xp
As in they’ll force us out. So had it up to here with this company. I’m at the point of hoping for a RIF; it’ll give be the push I need to find something else. I’ve gotten soft and complacent.

With over two and a half decades of professional experience, I find it entertaining when managers try to convince seasoned workers that their behavior is acceptable and what it takes to succeed in the workplace. The only people they are fooling are fresh out of high school or college.

A lot of them act like angry children and are more concerned with trivial ridicule toward their reports instead of trying to help them grow.

At times, I wonder if they are so hostile because they have pent up anxiety. I think on some level they know they are not qualified to be leading people, and that if they leave the halls of this company, they will not last as long at other shops that care about results rather than PowerPoint presentations.

I was WFH long before Covid at another company. I recall a change in management and they wanted me back in the office or else. So I started showing up, no makeup in jeans and a band tshirt. Socialize they said, so we all spent lots of time in the break room having the latest coffee blend and then trying out different restaurants during lunch time. Those always took more than an hour. But we are salaried. Given that I now had to commute, working late like I did from my home office was no longer going to happen. So I just didn’t have the bandwidth for the extras I used to do for senior management. It was noticed. A month later I was given an option to work from home again. Sounds like I should find my AC/DC shirt again.

@jw my thoughts exactly! Some offices cannot handle a lot of people all at once. Now I’m starting to think if this does happen, if it will rollout in certain areas first. When I lived in CA, they closed all the socal offices around 2018/2019 and moved into a smaller one as the ‘main’ office. They never intended to send people back when they did that. Now, I’m in another state in a similar situation. A lot of us would be in the office on the same days with no desks. This is why I am thinking it might start in larger locations/offices. We’ll see what happens!

I have been told to get ready to go into the office. I have no one to collaborate with - so..

Yes I am petty, but that is in response to a lack of response to a reasonable question - "who am I supposed to collaborate with and about what?" Acted like they were deaf when I asked...so....

I will be bringing in fish, (I hate fish) day old and firing up that microwave daily, I refuse to pick up after myself, I will just push it onto someone else's desk after they leave. I will wear jeans and a t-shirt ( likely the same one everyday) and will shower off my shame at night so I smell good and smelly in the am.

Yes I am petty- and a loud talker and a loud laugher - treat me like kr-p, I will act accordingly.
And yes, if you could freaking answer my question about who the heck I am supposed to collaborate with I would not be doing this.

You don't respect me, back at ya!

They can kick rocks with no shoes on because there's no way I'm going back into an office. Been there, done that. This is not the 90's anymore.

It will be interesting to see how sending all salaried employees to an office will work out especially in smaller ones. There were 5 total open near me at one point and now there is only 1. Even with all the riffs it still gets very busy.

@hr The September plan for remaining salaried associates was shared with leadership back when the July transition was. There's nothing up in the air about it.

@hm I’m sure they will eventually but there are lots of comments that are incorrect on this site. Per the current documents no changes at this time other than what has been posted for people leaders.

We need to get the company down to about 70-75K total associates while still supporting operations to be both competitive and profitable.

per the above post
@ee read this online
“At this time, we have no plans to move all Hybrid 1 associates below the people manager level to Hybrid 2”

We know things can change at anytime.

@ee it was announced officially last month in my org that RTO 3 days per week is to start July 14. Doesn’t matter for me though. I got RIFd this week.

Yes to salaried employees RTO 3 days a week starting Sept. Some department lower level leaders trying to push out to Jan 2026 but unlikely. It seems it hasn’t been announced officially and probably won’t be until the first round RTOs occur in July.

I know of rifs this past Tuesday. Unsure of who is on the list 6/26 unfortunately.

That’s really sad. I was part of layoff in February. It’s sad to see so many people losing their jobs.

Maybe read the room (and other related threads). The Rifs started this week and it’s already been brutal.
