Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Whoa, Cigna

Implementation got hit today. Got the dreaded ping this morning. Do they think that they will have AI up and running by October to handle peak? Will welcome calls be a thing of the past and handled by a chatbot? AI may be cheaper, but human connection is priceless. I missed my family during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but that's the beauty of AI, they don't have families, right, Dave?

How long before the IM role becomes automated?

Engagement hit hard too. I was one with tenure and it feels like those with years of dedication were targeted. I feel bad for those that are left that have to manage the impact. This may be a blessing in disguise but right now I feel like an unvalued number, lost and scared to enter the job market after so long. A job market that is ultra competitive with all the other companies issuing layoffs too. Best of luck to all you in your new chapter.

I was one of the U500 IMs let go, and in a way I'm happy not to be stuck with all already overwhelming book of business that is now going to get worse. At least 3 on my team were let go. I did hear that there is someone new coming on 3/2. That makes sense...

@a2 Agreed this 1/1 was an absolute sh-t show and I spent all of October through early this month putting out fires from it. Implementation calls were a mess. OnePA continues to be a mess. AI isn't going to fix this, and HIH is only making things worse.

A lot of EP&D got hit as well as Regulated Markets.

Such jobs obsolete just like toll takers. Bad place to be with current technology. Sorry but true. Too much?

it's not about AI. They're replacing expensive onshore workers with cheap sh---y labor from their office in india. it only makes sense if you think about it. They literally invested in buying locations in india. Might as well use AI as the screen to replace onshore positions of cheap sh---y indian workers. Also any dev will tell you that AI is hiliariously underdeveloped to be replacing any actual engineers. Just look at the messed mircosoft made with their sh---y AI code deploy in their latest windows 11 update
